AI Summary

The Senior Web Director will own solace.com as a technical asset and business driver, managing the roadmap, backlog, and web standards. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with marketing, product, and engineering teams to optimize site performance and conversion funnels.

Enterprise AI is moving from pilots to production, and the constraint is no longer the model — it's the data. Agents are only as good as what they can sense, trust, and act on in the moment, and real-time, event-driven data is becoming the foundation every serious AI system runs on.

Solace is the leading real-time data platform for the enterprise AI era. Established enterprises worldwide — including RBC Capital Markets, Bosch, Heineken, PSA Singapore, United Airlines, Schwarz Group, and hundreds more — have built their business around Solace to enable intelligent, real-time experiences, modernize their application and integration landscape, and create seamless digital journeys for their customers, partners, and employees.

So, the next time you drive a car, order furniture online, fly in a plane, check your bank balance on your phone, your positive experience could be a direct result of our technology—and your hard work!

About the Role

Solace is seeking a Director of Web to own solace.com as both a technical asset and a business driver. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, marketing, and design – someone who can understand a page's code, diagnose a Core Web Vitals problem, and just as comfortably read a conversion funnel and know why it's leaking.

You won't be writing site copy or designing pages yourself, but you'll be the person who pulls content, design, and dev work together into a site that performs — technically and commercially. You'll run the web the way a product manager runs a product: with a roadmap, a backlog, clear ownership, and a constant eye on the numbers. As the product owner for the web, you'll hold a senior seat at the table alongside PMM, Marketing Operations, and other stakeholders, and carry the SEO and AEO agenda for the site.

This is a lean team and a hands-on role for someone who wants real ownership without layers of process slowing them down — and who can guide and influence rather than block.

What You’ll Do

Roadmap & Prioritization

  • Run intake and triage for all web requests across marketing, sales, product, and leadership, so every ask is logged, sized, and sequenced rather than handled ad hoc.
  • Recommend a quarterly web roadmap based on impact vs. effort, balancing SEO/AEO opportunities, conversion work, technical debt, and stakeholder requests.
  • Communicate trade-offs clearly — what's in, what's next, and what isn't making the cut this quarter.

Web Standards & Guardrails

  • Act as the product owner for solace.com and the steward of its standards for performance, Core Web Vitals, site architecture, and SEO foundations.
  • Serve as a pseudo gatekeeper for the web. With a lean team, the goal isn't to say no to everything; it's to make sure stakeholders know what's changing and to flag risks early.
  • Monitor how changes affect site performance, and raise flags when key metrics move up or down so the team can respond quickly.

Product Management for Web Development

  • Act as the Product Manager for web: scope and write tickets with clear requirements and acceptance criteria for internal and agency developers.
  • Support QA and releases — helping validate work before launch and confirming it performs as intended once live.
  • Partner with engineering/dev resources (internal or agency) to prioritize and ship fixes and improvements, and manage external vendors or agencies supporting web development as needed.
  • Contribute hands-on to technical work only when it's the fastest path; the focus of this role is scoping and prioritization, not building.

SEO & AEO

  • Help shape SEO and AEO strategy at a high level, working with content and agency partners to turn it into an executable plan.
  • Bring depth on either the technical or the non-technical side of SEO; we'll pair you with the right resources to cover the other.
  • Use technical SEO audits, log file analysis, and AI visibility tracking to identify issues and opportunities, and feed them into the roadmap.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Report on the impact of web across the Sales and PLG funnels — even though web owns only one piece of each flow — covering traffic, conversion rate, page performance, and funnel drop-off.
  • Partner with Marketing Operations and the other teams that own the rest of the funnel to build a connected, trustworthy view of the full customer journey.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Hold a seat at the table with PMM, MOps, and other marketing stakeholders through regular check-ins, representing web in planning and campaign conversations.
  • Work closely with content and design contributors to plan, sequence, and launch new pages, campaigns, and site updates — without being the one drafting copy or comps.
  • Act as the connective tissue between marketing, content, design, and engineering so web work moves quickly and nothing stalls in handoffs.
  • Translate business and campaign goals into a clear website strategy, and bring a B2B SaaS lens to how the site should convert visitors into pipeline.

Testing & Experimentation

  • Run A/B tests or landing page experiments per month on the highest-trafficked pages. This is a lighter-touch responsibility in the near term, with room to grow as the roadmap matures.

What You’ll Bring to this role

  • 8-10 years of experience in a strategic web-focused role that understands the entire web development workflow.
  • B2B SaaS experience required; startup or high-growth environment experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to move fast and prioritize without heavy process overhead.
  • Working technical fluency: comfortable in HTML/CSS, familiar with modern web platforms (e.g., WordPress, or similar), and conversant enough in dev workflows to contribute or troubleshoot when needed.
  • Strong grasp of web performance fundamentals — page speed, Core Web Vitals — and of technical SEO, including log file analysis.
  • Working knowledge of AI visibility tracking and how AEO differs from traditional SEO.
  • Experience acting as a product manager for web: scoping tickets, supporting QA, and shepherding releases with internal or agency developers.
  • Experience reporting on funnel performance across sales-led and PLG motions, including where you own only part of the flow.
  • Track record of using data (analytics, funnel metrics, A/B testing) to drive measurable conversion improvements.
  • Experience managing a roadmap and competing priorities across multiple stakeholders, including triaging intake and prioritizing by impact vs. effort.
  • Experience working closely with product marketing and product teams to understand strategic direction and translate it into web priorities.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong project management and prioritization skills.
  • Comfortable operating as both an individual contributor and a cross-functional coordinator.
  • Clear communicator who can translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders and business goals for technical ones.
  • Self-directed and biased toward action.
  • Able to influence without authority — setting standards and raising flags rather than blocking work.
  • Senior presence to hold a seat at the table with PMM, MOps, and other leaders and represent the web with confidence.
