About Us:
At Everly, our vision is to change the paradigm of insurance. We know life insurance can be confusing and complex. We know that most people purchase life insurance at a milestone moment and file it away for the future. We want to change how people think about, buy, and use life insurance by being a partner in life’s journey. We are focused on making things that matter, making meaningful connections, and making things work WAY better. Our goal is to provide radically transparent, consumer-first insurance solutions.
We are looking for people with a continuous improvement mindset. Those who think the opposite of “This is how we’ve always done it”. We want people on our team who are always asking “How can we do this better?”
Our company values are a guide to our behavior and help inform our decisions. We want people who embody those values of breaking down barriers, owning the outcome, embracing the journey, and sparking joy.
This is a remote position based in the US with occasional travel.
About the role:
Everly has a content opportunity that most carriers in this space are not capitalizing on. Our distribution partners — banks, credit unions, and the advisors who work within them — are looking for credible, useful content that helps them understand, sell, and support life insurance and annuity products. The financial institutions we work with are also actively searching for partners who demonstrate expertise. We want to show up when they're looking.
This role exists to build and execute the content strategy that makes that happen — working in close partnership with the Head of Marketing & User Experience to define what we say, where we say it, and how we get found. That means original thought leadership and advisor-facing content, a disciplined approach to SEO and AEO so our content surfaces in both traditional search and AI-powered answer engines, and the AI-embedded workflows that let a lean team produce and distribute at a scale that punches above its weight.
This is an execution role as much as a strategy role. You will partner closely with the Head of Marketing to shape the content direction — and then you will do the work.
What You Will Own
Content Strategy — In Partnership with the Head of Marketing
- Partner with the Head of Marketing and User Experience to develop and maintain Everly's content strategy — audience mapping, topic prioritization, content types, cadence, and channel mix
- Translate strategic direction into a clear, executable content plan with owners, timelines, and measurable goals
- Own the editorial calendar across all content channels — Insights Library, advisor guides, partner-facing content, policyholder communications, and social
- Identify content gaps and opportunities based on audience needs, competitive landscape, and search/AI visibility data
- Ensure every piece of content earns its place — purposeful, on-strategy, and tied to a business outcome
Content Production & Thought Leadership
- Write and produce thought leadership content for bank and credit union executives, financial advisors, and distribution partners — Insights Library articles, white papers, product explainers, co-branded partner content
- Develop advisor-facing sales enablement content — objection handling guides, product narratives, conversation frameworks
- Develop policyholder-facing communications that reflect well on bank partners' brands
- Manage and brief the external content contractor; maintain quality and brand voice standards across all content produced internally and externally
- Produce content that is genuinely useful and credible to a sophisticated financial services audience — not generic, not SEO-stuffed, not templated
SEO & AEO — Search and Answer Engine Visibility
- Own Everly's SEO strategy in partnership with the Head of Marketing — keyword research, on-page optimization, content structure, and internal linking for traditional Google search
- Build and execute an AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) strategy that positions Everly's content to surface in AI-powered answer engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and others — as the authoritative source on life insurance and annuity topics relevant to financial institutions and advisors
- Optimize existing content for both traditional and AI search — structured data, clear entity definition, authoritative sourcing, and the kinds of direct, well-cited answers that AI engines surface
- Track search and answer engine visibility metrics; bring a data-informed perspective to what is working and adjust the content plan accordingly
- Stay current on the rapidly evolving AEO landscape — what signals AI engines use to surface sources, how that differs from traditional SEO, and where the opportunity is for a niche B2B financial services brand
- Educate the broader team on SEO/AEO best practices so that every piece of content produced is built to be found
AI-Embedded Content Workflows
- Work with the Head of Marketing to design and implement AI-powered content production workflows — using tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and HubSpot AI to accelerate drafting, optimization, and distribution without sacrificing quality or brand voice
- Build and maintain prompt libraries, brand-voice guides, and AI content templates that enable consistent, on-brand AI-assisted production across the team
- Use AI tooling to scale content output — more formats, more channels, more versions — without adding headcount
- Stay ahead of AI content tools and bring new capabilities to the team as they become relevant and responsible to use
- Ensure AI-assisted content meets the same quality, compliance, and brand standards as hand-crafted content — you are the quality gate, not just the workflow builder
General Marketing Support
- Support the broader Marketing & User Experience team on campaign content, asset copy, and project coordination as priorities shift
- Contribute to marketing planning, reporting, and cross-functional coordination with distribution, product, and compliance
- Step in where content is needed across the team — this is a lean function and shared load is part of the culture
Who You Are
Required
- 7+ years in content strategy or content marketing, with demonstrated experience in financial services, fintech, or insurance
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, or Communications
- Strong writer and editor — you produce clear, credible, sophisticated content for a financial institution and advisor audience without heavy editing, and you can tell the difference between content that earns trust and content that wastes everyone's time
- Hands-on SEO experience — keyword research, on-page optimization, content structure for search, and performance tracking
- Working knowledge of AEO and how AI answer engines surface and cite content — you understand this is an emerging discipline and you are actively learning it, not waiting for it to mature
- Hands-on experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Jasper, or equivalent) for content production — actual production use, not just awareness
- Experience building or contributing to AI content workflows — prompt engineering, brand-voice guides, AI-assisted editorial processes
- Comfortable operating in a lean team environment — you work in partnership, you don't wait for a brief to be handed to you
Strongly Preferred
- Experience in white-label, B2B2C, or channel marketing — you understand that the end customer relationship is mediated through a partner institution
- Familiarity with the advisor or community banking channel — you understand how advisors think about product and what content actually moves them
- Experience optimizing content for AI answer engines specifically — structured data, entity optimization, citation-worthy sourcing — not just traditional SEO
- Background in or exposure to insurance or annuity products — IUL, FIA, MYGA — with willingness to learn the details and write about them credibly
- Experience working with HubSpot at a content and workflow level
