Responsibilities

Ascension is actively seeking an experienced Manager of Search Engine Marketing (SEM) to oversee and lead strategy as a part of the Demand Marketing team. The ideal candidate will be an SEM expert with a strong background in healthcare, hospitality, credit card industry, or financial services. This role is instrumental in advancing Ascension's demand marketing strategy, ensuring precise performance tracking, and optimizing media investment for maximum impact.

This role is responsible for the strategic development of SEM recommendations with an understanding of the changing technology landscape, emerging trends and tools, and understanding of consumer habits, and goal setting to align with business objectives and drive volume. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, an effective communicator, and possess a strong analytical mindset.

In addition to the Media group, the role requires cross-discipline collaboration with agency partner(s), Digital Experience/SEO, Marketing Science, Local and National Marketing Strategy and Account Service, and Creative teams.

  • SEM Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop demand-focused plan strategic recommendations by market and service line.

  • Provide and review campaign structure, targeting, keywords, copy, site link, etc. recommendations for alignment with campaign goals with clearly defined measurement goals.

  • Oversee, direct and provide financial reporting for SEM campaigns across Ascension business.

  • Identify new technology and opportunities that will deliver measurable results and/or should be tested.

  • Lead daily management of Ascension platforms (e.g. Google Ads)

  • Gain understanding of consumer attitudes, behaviors and trends to forecast demand opportunities.

  • Monitor and provide recommendations on how to best capture meaningful SOV that drives volume.

  • Maintain relationships with key vendors to ensure Ascension is first to know changes in policy, algorithms changes, AI developments, beta opportunities, etc.

  • Reporting and Analytics:

  • Work with agency partner to deliver weekly, monthly and quarterly reports

  • Generate and monitor reporting for metrics, goal tracking, and dashboards, recommending tailored formats for various stakeholders.

  • Provide month-end reporting for agency managed work to Operations team for inclusion in accruals.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Lead day-to-day direction to agency partner and serve as

  • Work with market and national marketing leads to prioritize support for key business initiatives, ensure accuracy of messaging, and adjust campaigns based on operational readiness.

  • Collaborate with Digital Experience, Ascension Technologies, ADSI and other groups to implement first party data in compliance with privacy, consent, HIPAA and industry guidelines

  • Project Management:

  • Set deadlines and provide timely updates on steps in operations and trafficking processes.

  • Proactively alert team members as deadlines approach to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

  • Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media Analytics or a related field required.

  • An MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years working with SEM and analytics platforms.

  • Agency experience across multiple channels is favorable, but not required.

  • Experience managing large search budget $10M - $20M

  • Industry Experience:

  • Previous experience with healthcare is preferred; DTC brand, hospitality, or financial services industry is advantageous.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Certified in SEM platforms (e.g. Google Ads, Bing)

  • Strong working knowledge of Google Marketing Platforms (e.g. SA 360, CM 360, GA4)

  • Utilize advanced SEM tools and 3rd party bid management software such for comprehensive campaign management and optimization

  • Experience with Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Email/Calendar platforms

  • Project and Time Management:

  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and organization skills.

  • Ability to work independently while providing timely updates along project timeline.

  • Communication Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of gaining the confidence and respect of peers and key stakeholders.

  • Adaptability:

  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing creative landscape.

  • Ethical Standards:

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to Ascension's mission and values.
