Position Summary 

We are seeking a Sales Manager to join our Business Development team and drive revenue growth through both new Corporate Partner acquisition and sponsorship sales across HBA's portfolio of programs, events, thought leadership initiatives, and strategic offerings. 

This consultative sales role is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, expanding sponsorship engagement, building customized solutions, engaging executive-level decision-makers, negotiating agreements, and closing revenue-generating opportunities that advance HBA's mission and business objectives. 

The Sales Manager serves as a key contributor to HBA's growth strategy by expanding organizational participation, strengthening relationships with healthcare and life sciences companies, and collaborating across departments to deliver exceptional customer experiences. Following the successful close of new Corporate Partner agreements, the Sales Manager will partner with and transition accounts to Partner Success Advisors for onboarding, ongoing engagement, and relationship management. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a relationship-driven sales professional who enjoys building strategic partnerships, creating tailored solutions, and helping organizations maximize their engagement with HBA. 

Key Responsibilities 

Business Development & Revenue Growth 

  • Prospect, identify, and develop new Corporate Partner opportunities aligned with HBA's strategic growth goals. 

  • Drive sponsorship revenue growth for all sponsorship offerings  

  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand organizational priorities, talent objectives, business challenges, and sponsorship needs. 

  • Develop customized sponsorship and partnership solutions that align with prospect goals. 

  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline while achieving or exceeding revenue targets and performance objectives. 

  • Identify sponsorship opportunities for investments across HBA events, programs, and initiatives. 

  • Create and present strategic recommendations, proposals, and investment opportunities to prospective partners 

Sales Process & Deal Management 

  • Manage opportunities through the full sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through negotiation, contracting, invoicing, and payment collection. 

  • Structure and negotiate mutually beneficial agreements that support both customer and organizational objectives. 

  • Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, CRM records, and sales activity reporting. 

  • Monitor key business development metrics and provide insights on performance and growth opportunities. 

Executive Relationship Management 

  • Build and maintain relationships with senior executives and key decision-makers across healthcare, life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and related industries. 

  • Facilitate presentations, webinars, sponsorship briefings, and strategic discussions with prospective partners. 

  • Deliver a professional, consultative sales experience that positions HBA as a trusted partner. 

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership 

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop solutions that meet customer needs while supporting organizational goals. 

  • Participate in internal planning discussions related to events, programs, sponsorship opportunities, and revenue initiatives. 

  • Collaborate with volunteer leaders and internal teams to identify opportunities for growth and engagement. 

  • Ensure smooth handoff of newly acquired Corporate Partners to Partner Success Advisors for onboarding and ongoing relationship management. 

Professional Development & Innovation 

  • Stay informed on industry trends, partnership strategies, sponsorship best practices, and healthcare market developments. 

  • Participate in professional development, networking, and industry events. 

  • Leverage AI-enabled productivity tools, CRM platforms, and business intelligence resources to improve efficiency, planning, and customer engagement. 

 

Experience & Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sponsorship sales, partnership sales, consultative sales, or related revenue-generating roles. 

  • Demonstrated success achieving or exceeding revenue and sales goals. 

  • Experience managing complex sales cycles and negotiating business agreements. 

  • Proven ability to engage executive-level decision-makers and lead strategic business conversations. 

  • Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. 

  • Experience managing sales pipelines, forecasting, and CRM systems. 

  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a cross-functional team environment. 

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. 

  • Experience utilizing CRM and database platforms. 

  • Comfort learning new technologies and leveraging digital tools to drive efficiency and performance. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience within an association, nonprofit, healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industry. 

  • Sponsorship, event, partnership, membership, or marketing sales experience. 

  • Experience working with executive-level buyers and multiple stakeholder groups. 

  • Experience managing international client relationships and navigating global business environments. 

  • Experience utilizing AI-enabled productivity, research, and business intelligence tools. 

  • Direct CRM experience preferred. 

Benefits:  

  • The HBA offers a benefits package to full-time and qualified part-time employees through Aetna, which includes: 100% coverage of employee premium for base-level medical, dental, vision insurance and an allowance towards any dependents of 50% of premium costs.  

  • A 401(k)-retirement plan which you are eligible for on date of hire through Human Interest. HBA will offer up to a 2% match that is deposited with every payroll.  

  • Flexible spending accounts are also available for pre-tax contributions including FSA/HSA. Your eligibility for these benefits is subject to specific requirements and other terms, conditions, and restrictions in the applicable policy and/or plan.  

  • 2 weeks of vacation annually earned with each pay period (maximum of 40 hours carryover)   

  • One week of office shutdown pay between the US holidays of Christmas and New Year’s Day annually  

  • 13 standard US holidays  

  • 5 "floating holidays" per year (equivalent of 40 hours) can be used at any time and for any occasion you choose  

  • Summer Friday employee benefit: office closes at Noon, local time, starting the Friday before Memorial Day through the first week of October
