Senior Director, Product Management – Warehouse Management

Location: Remote / Flexible

Reports to: VP of Product Management – eCommerce Portfolio

About the Role

We’re hiring a Senior Director of Product Management to lead the Warehouse Management value stream within our eCommerce portfolio. This is one of the largest and most strategically important areas of the business – a multi-product pillar serving retailers, brands, and third-party logistics providers whose operations depend on our software every hour of every day.

This role goes well beyond managing roadmaps. You’ll take end-to-end responsibility for the performance of a portfolio of warehouse management products, including a recently acquired business that is being integrated into Descartes. A meaningful part of your first year will be weighted toward that integration – establishing the product operating model, setting portfolio strategy, building out the team, and making the calls on where products converge and where they stay deliberately distinct.

Our software runs real physical operations – receiving, inventory, picking, packing, and shipping – at scale, across highly complex workflows and deep integration with order management, carrier, and marketplace ecosystems. You’ll shape strategy, execution, and alignment across Engineering, Sales, Support, Marketing, Professional Services, and Finance so that these products deliver measurable value to customers and to the business.

This is a high-responsibility, high-autonomy role for someone who operates with ownership, thinks critically, and knows how to influence outcomes across a matrixed organization. You’ll also help drive how we apply AI – both in our customer-facing products and in our internal tooling – to stay ahead of industry expectations and internal efficiency goals.

What You’ll Do

Own the Portfolio and Its Business Outcomes

• Set and communicate a portfolio vision for warehouse management tied to clear business objectives, customer outcomes, and measurable ROI.
• Be accountable for performance across adoption, retention, monetization, roadmap delivery, and platform health – for the pillar, not just for individual products.
• Use a mix of financial models, market insight, customer validation, and internal data to guide investment decisions and make the case for where we spend.
• Ensure your teams are focused on problems worth solving, not just features worth building.

Integrate an Acquired Business and Establish the Operating Model

• Lead the product integration of a newly acquired warehouse management business – team, roadmap, processes, and systems – without stalling its momentum or losing what made it successful.
• Define where products in the portfolio converge on shared capabilities and where they remain distinct, and be able to defend both positions to customers and to the executive team.
• Bring consistency to how the pillar operates – planning cadence, discovery practices, release governance, and reporting – while respecting the differences between product lines and regions.
• Retain and motivate key people through a period of change, and be honest with them about what is changing and what is not.

Lead and Develop a Senior Product Team

• Lead a multi-product team spanning several geographies, including senior product managers and, over time, managers of managers.
• Elevate the team’s product thinking, commercial instincts, and execution discipline through structured feedback and mentorship.
• Set clear expectations and a high bar; build a culture of ownership, directness, and a strong sense of purpose.
• Hire deliberately, and be willing to make the hard calls on fit and performance.

Bridge Product and Go-to-Market

• Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Professional Services to align product direction with market opportunities across retail, brand, and 3PL segments.
• Collaborate on packaging, pricing, positioning, and launches – with a focus on customer fit and commercial impact.
• Champion field feedback and competitive insights in roadmap development and portfolio planning.
• Represent the portfolio credibly with customers, prospects, partners, and analysts.

Shape Strategy and Drive Cross-Functional Scale

• Help define and communicate long-range product and platform vision; ensure alignment across stakeholders inside and outside the pillar.
• Work across adjacent value streams – order and inventory management, shipping, and transportation – so the portfolio works as a connected suite rather than a set of separate products.
• Identify opportunities to reduce friction and improve effectiveness across internal tools, integrations, and workflows.
• Introduce and champion AI tools or automation strategies that improve outcomes for both customers and product teams.

Execute with Rigor and Urgency

• Drive high-quality execution through thoughtful planning, deep partnership with Engineering, and clear operating cadences.
• Balance roadmap initiatives, technical investment, customer commitments, integration work, and emergent opportunities.
• Make tough tradeoffs with confidence, grounded in customer impact and strategic clarity.

Who You Are

• 10+ years in B2B SaaS product management, including 5+ years managing product managers; experience leading senior PMs or managers of managers strongly preferred.
• Deep domain experience in warehouse management, fulfillment, supply chain, or logistics software – you understand what actually happens on a warehouse floor and why operators care.
• Proven ability to lead product teams that deliver measurable impact on retention, revenue, efficiency, or platform growth.
• Experience integrating an acquired product or team, or bringing coherence to a portfolio assembled from multiple products.
• Commercially fluent – you understand monetization levers, go-to-market dynamics, and how product drives growth.
• Comfortable navigating technical complexity, integration-heavy environments, and real operational scale.
• Highly curious and self-motivated – stays ahead of market trends, proactively identifies new opportunities, and seeks out feedback.
• Excellent communicator and decision-maker; brings clarity and momentum across technical and non-technical audiences, and is credible with executives and customers alike.
• Proficient with AI tools and workflows – both for building product features and driving team efficiency.
• Willing to travel periodically to warehouses, customer sites, and distributed team locations.

Salary Range: $160,000 - $170,000 CAD annually. Compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for this position only. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills as well as the years of experience you have.
