Your impact on team

The Program Manager of Product Operations is responsible for working with cross functional teams including product, program, and engineering teams to identify and update those processes and metrics that they can use to plan, execute, and support their work, and measure the health and success of their agile teams. You will learn the needs of our teams and organization, continuously iterate on our process and be a member of the operations team who owns rolling out and their adoption. This position will not only focus on our processes but also the planning, communication, and coordination of our projects. This role requires a strong blend of leadership, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, overseeing, and streamlining our operational processes. You will work closely with the operations teams and the cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, develop and implement solutions, and ensure smooth execution.

This role is primarily remote with occasional travel to McGraw Hill offices. All applicants must be authorized to work for any employer within the United States and preference will be given to applicants who reside in New York, New Jersey, or Boston area.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze current operational processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement project plans to streamline processes and increase efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for operational procedures.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on process effectiveness.
  • Developing and monitoring performance dashboards and metrics to track progress toward program goals.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Manage and lead operational projects.
  • Own and manage communications across operational projects. Ensure transparency and buy in on key decisions and process changes.
  • Communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including product, program and engineering.
What We Value/What You'll Need
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a project manager/scrum master/operational excellence manager, preferably in an agile environment
  • Strong analytical acumen for problem-solving, data analysis and project management
  • Proven ability to analyze data to iterate, refine processes, identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Experience applying these methodologies to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.
  • Cross-disciplinary understanding of product management, software development, and quality assurance
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to convey process changes clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • In depth knowledge of software development and adoption, ideally in Ed Tech
  • Self-motivated with strong ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to travel on occasion and willingness to work in east coast time.
  • Open style of communication to foster efficient flow of ideas and build consensus across a wide audience of individuals.
  • Growth mindset, adaptable, positive attitude, and open to change, interested in improving over time
  • Capable of influence in a matrix structure where authority may lie elsewhere
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Slack, EazyBI a plus.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with tools in our product management stack or equivalent (Pendo, ProductPlan, ProductBoard, Dovetail, Miro, Mural)
  • Experience with contract management and analyzing financial metrics. (CZ)
  • Experience with advanced SaaS engineering techniques (CICD, automated testing)
  • Experience with tools in our program management stack or equivalent (Confluence, Jira, ProductPlan, Apptio, EazyBI, Smartsheet)
  • Experience coaching or mentoring across multiple functional groups.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification is a plus.
  • Educational technology industry experience

The pay range for this position is between $105,000 - $125,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
