The Manager provides strategic oversight of customer engagement, corporate marketing, and market development to enhance the Port of Prince Rupert's global visibility. This includes managing CRM systems, executing multi-platform marketing campaigns, and fostering strategic relationships with global trade partners.
The Manager, Marketing & Customer Engagement provides strategic oversight of the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s (PRPA) customer engagement, corporate marketing, and market development portfolios. Reporting to the Director, Trade & Market Engagement, the Manager is accountable for advancing PRPA’s market visibility, deepening strategic customer relationships, and providing actionable data-driven intelligence regarding market development initiatives. The role is responsible for executing marketing and customer relationship initiatives that position the Port of Prince Rupert as a leading gateway for global trade across all lines of business, including intermodal, bulk, liquid bulk, and cruise.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
- Support the development and lead an integrated marketing, customer engagement, and market development strategy aligned with PRPA's business growth and gateway competitiveness objectives.
- Provide direct management, mentorship, and clear portfolio priorities, establishing strong accountability and a results-oriented approach.
- Serve as a key strategic advisor to the Director on marketing programs, market share expansion opportunities, and data-driven client relationship methods.
- Lead regular cross-functional collaboration with Communications, Business Development, Government & External Relations, Business Intelligence and Operations to ensure integrated execution of marketing strategies and a unified corporate presence.
- Administer and manage allocated marketing budgets, resource plans, and project lifecycles, ensuring rigorous tracking of return-on-investment (ROI) across all promotional frameworks and initiatives.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Oversee structured customer engagement activities that enhance trust, improve operational responsiveness, and sustain long-term commercial relationships with cargo interests, ocean carriers, rail networks, and terminal operators.
- Strategic oversight and governance of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, utilizing it to drive segmentation, coordinate business development tracking, and deliver personalized B2B communication.
- Coordinate targeted customer loyalty initiatives, corporate events, trade missions, terminal openings, and structured feedback mechanisms to ensure a seamless service experience across the gateway.
- Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to oversee the mapping of cargo flows, production hubs, and regional market shares to support marketing and customer engagement initiatives.
Brand Management & Marketing Communications
- Collaborating with Communications, direct the development and execution of multi-platform marketing, digital media, and advertising campaigns designed to position the Prince Rupert Gateway as a top-tier global supply chain solution.
- Oversee the generation of data-driven marketing collateral, market summaries, executive presentations, and performance dashboards for presentation to senior leadership, board reports, and high-level industrial forums.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage high-value corporate sponsorships that advance PRPA’s strategic messaging, brand health, and corporate values.
- Perform other related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position is eligible for remote work within Canada. However, travel to Prince Rupert, BC, and relevant domestic and international markets will be required.
- Regular, full-time position (37.5 hours). Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours/day, with a flexible starting time and a 1-hour lunch break (unpaid).
- At times, work hours may vary for operational reasons.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Formal Education
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, international trade or a closely related field.
- A master’s degree in a related field is an asset.
Related Experience
- 5 to 7 years of leadership experience in marketing, customer engagement, or market development within a complex organization.
- Demonstrated experience managing direct reports, handling portfolio budgets, and tracking marketing initiatives for return-on investment.
- Proven success utilizing CRM databases and collaborating data analytics/business intelligence initiatives.
- Experience in the transportation, logistics, infrastructure, or trade-related sectors is highly desirable.

- Strategic and analytical capability to turn technical supply chain logistics into highly effective marketing initiatives.
- Advanced written, verbal and presentation capability to present complex logistics and trade corridor information clearly to senior executives and external customers.
- Strong capacity to influence and build enduring high-level trust with complex stakeholders.
- Exemplary level of corporate judgment, confidentiality, and integrity when managing proprietary information, sensitive market development initiatives, and customer profiles.
- Proficient in MS Office, analytical dashboards, modern CRM systems, large language models, and other AI tools.
- Ability to obtain Transport Canada security clearance.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and a valid Canadian passport.
The base salary range for this role is $131,542-$164,427. This role is eligible for an additional 10% of the monthly base pay in lieu of health benefits during the contract, as well as a 15% annual performance variable pay.
