Senior Lead Engineer – Support Organization

Job Summary:

The Senior Lead Engineer supports Majesco customers by analyzing and resolving production incidents, determining whether reported issues are product defects within defined timeframes, implementing change requests, and delivering defect fixes and product upgrades. The role translates complex insurance and product requirements into reliable business logic and technical solutions across Java/J2EE and Oracle, while partnering with customers and internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze customer-reported incidents, troubleshoot root causes using WildFly logs, application behavior, and data analysis, and determine defect status within agreed timeframes.
• Design and implement defect fixes, change requests, and product upgrades spanning Java business logic and Oracle database logic.
• Gather requirements from customers, clarify functional intent, break down complex requirements, prepare technical functional specifications, and provide estimates.
• Develop and maintain Java/J2EE, JSP, Servlet, SOAP/REST, XML/XSL/HTML, and third-party service integrations; use Postman and similar API tools to validate APIs.
• Develop and optimize SQL/PL/SQL stored procedures, packages, and functions; analyze data and database behavior to support fixes and upgrades.
• Participate in code walkthroughs, code reviews, unit-test plan reviews, and quality reviews; identify and escalate risks that affect testing progress or delivery.
• Coordinate with customer stakeholders and cross-functional teams to manage conflicting priorities, communicate technical findings, and guide functionality decisions.
• Mentor junior programmers in Oracle database design and development and contribute to continuous improvement through new tools, frameworks, and Dev Studio.

Essential Attributes & Capabilities:

• Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and functional code to identify root causes.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to discuss technical points with customers and guide them on product functionality.
• Experience gathering requirements and documenting business and functional requirements for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Insurance functional domain experience is a strong advantage, together with an open mind to learn Majesco product functionality.
• Willingness to learn new tools and frameworks, including Dev Studio in the Majesco context.
• Experience managing customer relationships and team collaboration in a support or delivery environment.
• Ability to manage conflicting delivery priorities while maintaining quality and customer focus.
• Self-driven, highly motivated, outcome-focused, and able to work independently, remotely, and as part of a team.
• Commitment to quality, including participation in walkthroughs, reviews, and unit-test planning, with a “do it right the first time” mindset.
• Experience mentoring junior programmers in Oracle database design and development.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams and escalate issues that may impact testing or delivery.

Technical Expertise:

• WildFly Application Server: hands-on ability to troubleshoot application issues by analyzing WildFly logs.
• Java/J2EE development, including JSP and Servlets.
• SOAP and REST web services; API development and testing using Postman or equivalent tools.
• XML, XSL, HTML, and a good understanding of HTTP response codes.
• SQL and PL/SQL, including stored procedures, packages, and functions.
• Experience developing APIs for third-party services and understanding how to call and coordinate collections of microservices.
• Experience participating in code reviews, unit-test plan reviews, code walkthroughs, and other quality reviews.
• Ability to break down complex requirements and provide estimates for defect fixes and change requests.

Preferred Qualification & Experience:

• Experience in insurance technology or an insurance functional domain is preferred.
• Experience in functional development and design implementation, including preparing technical function specification documents.
• Experience communicating directly with clients to gather requirements and explain technical or functional solutions.
• Experience managing customers and teams, mentoring junior programmers, and supporting delivery across competing priorities.
• Experience with Dev Studio or demonstrated willingness to learn new frameworks, tools, and Majesco product functionality.
