You will manage day-to-day IT operations, including end-user support, identity administration, and endpoint management. Additionally, you will maintain internal documentation and provide first-line troubleshooting for internal web applications.
This is a remote position.
We are looking for a Junior Systems Administrator to join our IT department and work closely alongside our IT Administrator. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who thrives in a small team environment, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and wants to grow into a key pillar of the company's technology operations.
You will own day-to-day IT operations and end-user support, take on a growing share of systems and identity administration, help keep our internal applications running by triaging and investigating issues reported by users, and build the documentation and processes that keep a lean IT function running reliably. Over time, this person will develop the capability to manage IT operations independently and serve as backup coverage for the IT Administrator.
This role suits someone with a couple of years of solid grounding who wants materially broader ownership than a large IT department would offer. You will not be one ticket-taker among twenty — you will be half of the IT function, with real influence over how it works.
This is a night shift in Philippine time: 8:00am – 5:00pm Eastern Time, Mondays to Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
Helpdesk & End-User Support
Serve as the first point of contact for internal IT support requests from employees
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a timely and professional manner
Own and maintain the IT ticketing queue and support workflows, including triage and prioritization
Provide excellent customer service — communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical staff
Identity & Endpoint Management
Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID: user provisioning, licensing, group and mailbox management, security policies
Run employee onboarding and offboarding end to end across all business systems
Manage company endpoints through Intune — enrollment, configuration, compliance, and software deployment
Administer user accounts and permissions across our SaaS platforms, including Front, Dialpad, and Zoho CRM
Conduct periodic license and access audits, and act on the findings
Infrastructure & Systems
Assist in the administration and maintenance of our cloud and on-premises infrastructure
Support systems patching, monitoring, and routine maintenance
Help manage network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and VPN access
Assist with backup verification, restore testing, and disaster recovery procedures
Support endpoint and email security tooling, and help respond to alerts
Application Support & Troubleshooting
We build and run internal web applications used daily by our operations team — a quote tracker and a customer database, with more planned. You will be the first line of defense when something in them doesn't work.
Act as first-line triage for issues users report in our internal applications
Reproduce reported problems and write clear, specific bug reports — what was expected, what happened, and the exact steps to reproduce
Investigate issues using application logs, browser developer tools, and database queries
Distinguish between user error, data problems, and genuine defects — and resolve the first two independently
Log defects and enhancement requests in our issue tracker, keep them current, and follow up with the people who reported them
Verify fixes and assist with release testing before changes reach production
Perform straightforward data and configuration corrections under guidance
With mentorship, progress toward making small code fixes yourself — this is a genuine growth path, not a hypothetical one
Documentation & Process
Maintain clear and current documentation of systems, configurations, processes, and procedures
Write and maintain runbooks and internal knowledge base articles — this is a core part of the role, not an afterthought
Identify gaps in existing IT processes and propose improvements
Help build the operational foundations that let a two-person IT team support the whole business
Reporting & Automation (exposure and growth)
Assist with administration of our internal reporting tools and dashboards
Support and extend workflow automations that reduce manual IT and business processes
Contribute to data and reporting requests from the wider business as skills develop
Growth & Collaboration
Work closely with the IT Administrator to learn every part of the IT environment
Develop the skills and knowledge to manage IT operations independently and act as backup coverage
Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to understand their technology needs
Requirements
Required
Minimum 2 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar technical role
Solid troubleshooting skills across Windows environments, networking, and end-user hardware and software issues
Working familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration — user and license management at minimum
A methodical approach to problem-solving: able to isolate a problem, gather evidence, and describe it precisely rather than reporting "it's broken"
Comfortable working in a small team with significant autonomy and breadth of responsibility
Strong communication skills — able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues
Detail-oriented, with a genuine habit of keeping documentation accurate and up to date
Collaborative and service-minded toward internal employees
Able to work 8:00am – 5:00pm Eastern Time, Mondays to Fridays
Nice to Have
Hands-on Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Conditional Access)
Experience with endpoint management, particularly Microsoft Intune
Basic SQL — able to write SELECT queries with joins to investigate a data question
Comfort reading application logs and using browser developer tools to diagnose a web application issue
Exposure to version control (Git) and issue trackers (Linear, Jira, or GitLab)
Any exposure to web application development in Python, JavaScript, or a similar stack — professional experience not required, personal projects count
Exposure to cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP, or DigitalOcean) — VMs, storage, networking
Familiarity with VPN and remote access technologies (Tailscale, WireGuard, or similar)
Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
Exposure to containers or Linux server administration
Experience with no-code or low-code automation platforms (n8n, Power Automate, Zapier, Make)
Familiarity with BI or dashboard tools such as Metabase, Power BI, or Grafana
