Who We Are:

At K1x, we are revolutionizing the tax software sector with innovative technology that brings clarity, efficiency, and control to intricate K-1 and partnership reporting. Our platform empowers top firms and institutions by streamlining data management, automating compliance processes, and providing insights that enhance client results. As a rapidly growing Series B SaaS company, we have earned the trust of tax and accounting professionals who appreciate accuracy and collaboration. Each team member contributes directly to how clients engage with our technology and services, with our Account Management team being pivotal to this goal.

Role Overview:

This is a leadership role for someone who wants to build and run a high-performing Account Management team. As the Head of Account Management at K1x, you will lead, coach, and develop a team of Account Managers while personally owning a small portfolio of strategic accounts, staying close to the client experience you're asking your team to deliver.

Most of your time will go toward leading the team: setting and holding the team accountable to quota, running regular pipeline, renewal, and forecast calls, and partnering with AMs to identify whitespace and build expansion pipeline across their books. You'll also coach the team on renewal strategy, growth conversations, and building strong sponsor relationships, while facilitating Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) for your own accounts and working closely with Product, Support, and Finance to ensure clients realize full value from K1x.

This role is ideal for someone who has carried an Account Management quota themselves and now wants to multiply that impact through others - a leader who is comfortable setting targets, coaching through pipeline reviews, and being accountable for team-wide renewal and growth outcomes in a fast-paced, startup-minded environment.

What You'll Do:

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Account Managers, building their skills in renewals, growth conversations, and executive relationship-building
  • Set individual and team quotas, and hold the team accountable to hitting them
  • Run regular pipeline, renewal, and forecast calls with the team to track coverage, risk, and progress
  • Recruit, hire, and ramp new Account Managers as the team scales

Player/Coach Book of Business

  • Personally own a small portfolio of key accounts, directly managing their renewal and growth
  • Model best-in-class renewal execution, QBRs, and sponsor relationship management for the team to emulate
  • Stay close to client and market dynamics so your coaching is grounded in real account work

Pipeline and Whitespace Strategy

  • Partner with AMs to identify whitespace within existing accounts and build expansion pipeline across the book of business
  • Build account segmentation and coverage plans that align team capacity to client value and risk
  • Translate usage and performance data into team-wide strategies for growth and retention

Strategic Partnership and QBRs

  • Ensure every Account Manager delivers high-quality QBRs that reinforce ROI and identify growth areas
  • Build the team's annual and quarterly account planning process, aligned to client priorities and K1x objectives
  • Personally lead QBRs and strategic discussions for your own portfolio of accounts

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Represent Account Management in cross-functional planning with Product, Services, Finance, and Commercial teams
  • Surface team-wide client insights and product feedback to help shape roadmap priorities
  • Partner with Sales leadership on cross-sell and expansion strategy across the client base

Escalation Management and Team Support

  • Serve as the senior escalation point for the team's most complex client issues
  • Coach AMs on how to manage escalations with clarity and composure as they grow
  • Coordinate internal teams to deliver effective, timely resolutions

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will:

  • Spend the majority of your time leading, coaching, and developing your team, while personally managing a small book of accounts
  • Set and hold your team accountable to quota, pipeline coverage, and renewal targets
  • Run structured pipeline, renewal, and forecast cadences with the team
  • Use adoption data and whitespace analysis to direct the team's pipeline-building efforts
  • Build a culture of accountability, coaching, and trust that positions K1x as a long-term partner rather than a vendor
  • Personally renew and grow your own accounts while maintaining strong sponsor relationships

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Account Management or Customer Success within SaaS, including at least 3+ years directly leading or managing a team, ideally in tax technology, financial software, or related fields
  • Required: Experience working at a startup or small company, with a demonstrated ability to operate with autonomy, wear multiple hats, and build process as the business scales
  • Preferred: Experience in or exposure to private equity, working with PE-backed portfolio companies, or supporting PE/finance clients
  • Proven ability to set and hit team quotas, run pipeline and forecast reviews, and hold a team accountable to renewal and growth targets
  • A player/coach mindset: willing to own accounts directly while building and leading a team
  • Strong understanding of tax workflows and reporting such as K-1, partnership, or fund structures, or the ability to ramp quickly
  • Experience coaching a team on executive relationship-building, renewal negotiation, and structured business reviews
  • Data mindset with comfort using CRM and analytics tools to forecast, monitor account health, and identify whitespace
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills with a consultative, solutions approach

Benefits

  • Unlimited Vacation Policy + Sick Time + Holidays
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Fully Remote Opportunity
  • Healthcare Benefits and 401(K)
  • Growing Startup Culture
