Performance Marketing Lead für Shopify Apps (m/w/d)

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Location Model: 100% Remote (Germany / EU) | Primary Hub: Bochum, Germany

Target Package: €80,000 OTE (€68,000 Fixed Salary + €12,000 Performance Target)*

Who We Are

Our driving ambition is straightforward: remove all friction from e-commerce.

As a dedicated digital retail partner, we arm businesses—from agile early-stage ventures to established mid-market leaders—with the technology and software required to scale online quickly and securely. We prioritize transparent, human-centered partnerships, straight talk, and delivering dependable project outcomes on time and within budget. Our team thrives on authenticity and views operational stumbles as natural stepping stones toward collective improvement. Functioning as a specialized business unit within a broader international software alliance, our products and Shopify app ecosystem power growth for more than 13,000 active merchant accounts worldwide.

The Role

As our Performance Marketing Lead, you will assume total ownership of architecting, launching, and refining the entire customer acquisition system for our Shopify app portfolio from day one. Collaborating directly with our Business Unit Lead, you will convert our paid acquisition efforts into a predictable, highly scalable growth driver. Your day-to-day focus will center on capturing high-intent merchant demand, optimizing multi-channel conversion funnels, and driving qualified traffic directly to our marketplace listings to increase app installs.

This position includes a structured career advancement path: as you establish a scalable marketing infrastructure and document repeatable playbooks, you will systematically advance into a Senior Lead role, taking charge of hiring, mentoring, and leading your own internal marketing unit over the next 12 to 24 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Paid Channel Ownership: Design, launch, and continually optimize performance campaigns across search, social, app marketplace, and syndicated content networks (Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Shopify Ads, and sponsored content).
  • Demand Generation & Funnel Scale: Drive B2B lead capture, nurture MQLs, and maximize installation rates by directing high-intent merchant traffic straight onto our Shopify App Store listings.
  • Process Engineering & Documentation: Construct, formalize, and document scalable marketing workflows, clear operational guidelines, and transparent reporting systems to ensure long-term efficiency and smooth team handovers.
  • Hypothesis-Driven Testing: Execute all growth initiatives through a structured, scientific framework (Hypothesis Formulation $\rightarrow$ Campaign Execution $\rightarrow$ Data Analysis $\rightarrow$ Iterative Optimization).
  • Tracking & Analytics Stack: Build, audit, and maintain airtight multi-touch attribution architectures across GA4, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio, and connected CRM data pipelines.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely with Product and Customer Success teams to align marketing efforts with feature releases, software updates, cross-selling campaigns, and merchant retention initiatives.
  • Leadership Trajectory: Lay the operational foundation to recruit, onboard, and lead a high-performing growth team as our software portfolio expands over the next 1–2 years.

What Makes You a Fit

  • Proven Track Record: At least 5 years (ideally 4–7 years) of hands-on performance marketing experience in B2B environments, holding direct accountability for qualified lead generation (MQLs) across multiple paid acquisition channels.
  • Core Channel Mastery: Deep, direct operational proficiency in managing, optimizing, and scaling Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads.
  • MarTech & Data Expertise: Practical, hands-on experience integrating CRM and marketing automation systems (e.g., HubSpot) alongside web analytics and reporting platforms (GA4, GTM, Looker Studio).
  • Systems Mindset: A deeply quantitative approach to growth—you naturally navigate decisions through core performance metrics (CPL, CAC, Conversion Rates, ROAS) and value durable systems over isolated tactics.
  • Language Requirements: Native or business-native C2 German language proficiency combined with professional English communication skills.
  • Remote Autonomy: Demonstrated self-management, discipline, and personal accountability in a fully distributed workplace setup.
  • Nice-to-Haves: Prior exposure to the Shopify merchant/app marketplace ecosystem, direct experience in Shopify App Store marketing, B2B SaaS background within the DACH region, or initial team management experience.

What We Offer

  • Total Operational Autonomy: Complete freedom to build our performance marketing engine from the ground up with a direct line of communication to business leadership.
  • Structured Career Advancement: A clear advancement path toward Senior Marketing Lead accompanied by planned team expansion.
  • Distributed Work Culture: 100% remote flexibility across Germany or any EU location, trust-based working hours, and 28 days of paid annual vacation.
  • In-Person Team Events: Two fully funded company offsite retreats per year (2–3 days each) designed for strategic alignment, collaboration, and real-world team bonding.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Mobility allowances (JobRad leasing and JobTicket), company pension plan (BAV), capital-forming benefits (VWL), Urban Sports Club membership, and access to a dedicated mental health support platform.

*EU Remote Compensation Policy: The target OTE stated above (€80,000) reflects compensation standards for candidates based in Germany. For candidates residing in other EU countries outside of Germany, compensation structures will be calibrated against local market rates via an Employer of Record (EOR) provider.
