Overview:

BM Technologies, Inc. ("BMTX" or the "Company") is seeking a Director of Accounting, Bank Portfolio Management to oversee banking payment operations, including MasterCard transactions, interchange fees, provision losses, and overdrafts. This position will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for managing the Portfolio Reconciliation Operations Team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Portfolio Reconciliation Operations Team, overseeing all general ledger and client (Partner Banks) account reconciliations, and preparing Bank Call Reports.
  • Record, process, and analyze financial operations, providing necessary information for management decision-making and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as a liaison with Partner Banks on matters related to daily settlements, reconciliations, monthly and quarterly billings
  • Partner with stakeholders across the Company to streamline and automate reconciliation operations, identify and implement process improvements.
  • Reconcile general ledger, balance sheet, and bank statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Assist in the creation, verification, and transmission of ACH files, performing parallel testing in PeopleSoft.
  • Review contract documentation for billing and reporting requirements, and ensure ERP setup for automated invoicing.
  • Verify the validity of payment requests, authorize payments, and manage bank documents and accounts.
  • Monitor deposit balances, prepare cash flow reports, and organize payment and tax documentation.
  • Coordinate the opening and closing of general ledger accounts, and create and manage documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, provide career pathing and training for reconciliation and accounting specialists, and ensure staffing requirements are met.
  • Communicate with internal teams and clients to resolve issues, attend meetings and conference calls, and participate in corporate projects and initiatives.
  • Identify settlement discrepancies and out-of-balance conditions, recommend opportunities to improve reconciliation processes.

Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • CPA required.
  • 5 years of experience in finance/accounting and banking operations.
  • Background in payments sector
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting regulations and industry trends.
  • Ability to analyze issues quickly, function in a fast-paced environment, and take appropriate action under tight time constraints.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, including PeopleSoft and NetSuite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
