The Business Development Representative is responsible for generating new corporate sales opportunities through outbound prospecting, cold calling, and lead qualification. A Day in the Life:
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for generating new corporate sales opportunities for Hertz across the Western Region. This role specializes in outbound prospecting, cold calling, lead generation, and appointment setting.
The BDR identifies and qualifies prospective corporate customers with annual rental spend ranging from $100,000 to $750,000, secures introductory meetings, and transitions qualified opportunities to Account Managers, who manage the sales process through proposal development, negotiation, and contract execution.
This position is designed as an entry point into Hertz Corporate Sales and offers a clear path for advancement into an Account Manager role.
This position starts at $50K; commensurate of experience + bonus potential
What You’ll Do:
Conduct 50+ outbound prospecting calls daily.
Execute email and LinkedIn outreach campaigns.
Research target companies and identify key decision-makers.
Build and maintain prospect lists within assigned territories.
Develop and execute strategic prospecting plans focused on new business acquisition.
Generate qualified meetings and sales opportunities for Account Managers.
Determine prospects' current rental provider, contract status, and annual rental spend.
Understand customer travel patterns, business needs, and rental requirements.
Identify key decision-makers and understand purchasing processes.
Assess prospects fit against Hertz's target customer profile.
Schedule introductory meetings and transition qualified opportunities to Account Managers.
Document all prospect interactions, activities, and opportunity details in Salesforce.
Meet or exceed monthly opportunity creation goals.
Maintain accurate CRM records and activity tracking.
Provide regular updates on prospecting activities, pipeline development, and market opportunities.
Ensure the seamless handoff of qualified opportunities to Account Managers.
Partner with Account Managers to ensure successful lead transitions and follow-up.
Participate in sales meetings, pipeline reviews, training sessions, and team development activities.
Share market intelligence, customer feedback, and competitive insights with the broader sales team.
What We’re Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in inside sales, business development, lead generation, or outbound prospecting required.
Must reside within the Western United States and be able to support business development efforts across the Western Region.
Demonstrated ability to conduct high-volume outbound prospecting through phone, email, and social selling activities required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with decision-makers, required.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records, required.
Self-motivated, coachable, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams, required.
