To support our growth, we are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial and driven Business Development Director who has a razor focused hunter mindset. This is a brand new and exciting opportunity where you will be given full autonomy and ownership for business development and client relations activities to join our growing Lifecycle Services business unit which aims to provide its customers a unique and tailor-made service across regulatory requirements, pharmacovigilance and medical information.

Please note this role will operate remotely with a focus on the East Coast preferred West Coast also considered with travel to conferences, networking events, client meetings (30%-50%).

This role will suit someone who is perhaps operating as a BD Director looking for more autonomy or a Senior BDM looking to move into a Director level role. Our plans are to grow the Lifecycle organisation significantly and seeking a proactive, driven and hungry individual who will play a fundamental role in the growth of the function.

Key Responsibilities:

As our newly appointed BD Director you will manage a number of activities which include but not limited to:

  • Development and maintenance of long-term client relationships resulting in the expansion of client base, build awareness of our company services and generate revenue.
  • Uncover immediate needs to target market through leads and follow ups, executing internal and external initiatives to drive profitable growth.
  • Support of direct sales initiative by creating and participating in BID meetings and presentations.
  • Identify and attend key conferences and trade shows to increase company visibility, business opportunities.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements.
  • Generate new leads and opportunities.
  • Development of proposals for submission to prospective clients.
  • Initiation and facilitation of pre-work with a client as needed (e.g. CDA/NDA, MSA, SOW, meeting preparations).
  • Act as a liaison between Clinigen Group and potential clients (e.g., setting up capability presentations, teleconference).
  • Document leads, opportunities, proposals, and related activities.
  • Liaise with clients during proposal negotiation.
  • Work closely with client-facing teams outside of the Business Development function on sales strategies based on market research and competitor analyses and execute sales plan based on those strategies.
  • Conduct sales follow-up and order close with prospective customers.
  • Work with Marketing to coordinate promotions, participate in events, and conduct follow-up contact with prospective clients.
  • Utilization of internal data tracking tools to record and monitor ongoing sales activities and for producing sales metrics reports as needed.
  • Ensures communications are coordinated with internal stakeholders, and support sales plan objectives.
  • Participation in regular Business Development team meetings and meetings with key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, MBA, or similar graduate degree desired.
  • 8 years of sales experience within the life sciences industry; 10+ years' experience in contract research organizations (CRO's), pharmacovigilance, or regulatory affairs environment experience.
  • Proven business development track record, from opportunity identification to proposal development to conversion into sales.
  • Business development experience acquired with contract research organizations (CRO's), pharmacovigilance or regulatory affairs organization.
  • Proven team player who can focus and continuously reinforce efforts to meet goals.
  • Strong presence and confidence during presentations to customers.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to assess and resolve difficult business situations.
  • A self-starter with a driving personality and willingness to take on responsibilities in a proactive manner.
  • Experience in the EU and US markets is preferred.
  • Proposal or contract experience.
  • Experience with identifying and getting to decision makers in small and large organizations.
  • Strong technical presentation skills.
  • Process-oriented design, strong client service, leadership, and project management skills.
  • CRO, pharmaceutical, biotechnology development, or healthcare industry preferred.
