Research and draft a report chapter analyzing the ESG management practices of Chinese copper and cobalt mining and processing companies in the DRC, including comparisons over time and with other major industry actors. Examine engagement models between Chinese and international ESG standards bodies through desk research and stakeholder interviews, document findings, and recommend ways to improve company ESG performance.
The consultant will conduct research and draft a chapter on the progress and challenges of ESG performance in the copper and cobalt mining industries in the DRC. This includes performing stakeholder interviews, analyzing regulatory frameworks, and providing evidence-based recommendations.
The consultant will conduct a national baseline study on gender-disaggregated employment in the large-scale mining sector, including qualitative and policy analysis. They will also identify barriers to women's participation and propose practical policy recommendations to improve working conditions and career progression.
