Job Summary:

The Senior Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is responsible for developing and executing the enterprise DEI strategy that elevates the employee experience and builds a diverse leadership pipeline to drive growth and profitability at Vail Resorts. This leadership position will partner across HR and Environmental and Social Responsibility (ESR) to define, prioritize and embed best-in-class DEI practices into Vail Resort's talent systems and culture throughout the employee life cycle. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of best practices in DEI and demonstrated experience designing, integrating, and executing a multi-year DEI roadmap. Reporting to the VP of Talent Strategy and DEI, this role would partner directly with the HRSLT specifically VP of Talent, VP Environmental and Social Responsibility (ESR) Senior HR Business Partners, as well as key HR Functional leaders and business leaders to develop and drive Vail Resorts' overall strategic DEI agenda, priorities and projects. This role will collaborate with senior peers across the business to achieve the enterprise HR vision to "empower leaders to deliver Epic Service for their teams and our guests," the company mission to create the Experience of a Lifetime for employees and guests, and our deeply held company belief that "The Future of the Sport is Inclusion".

Key Responsibilities:

DEI Roadmap: Design, integrate, and execute the internal DEI multi-year roadmap that aligns with the organization's overall mission and goals.

Strategic Execution : Oversee the strategic design, planning and execution of annual DEI initiatives, establishing long-term DEI goals and objectives, and integrating them into the broader business strategy. Lead the development, launch, and management of DEI programs such as the Employee Inclusion Network (EINs), rotational programs, bespoke development programs, and inclusive hiring initiatives. Use data-driven approaches to inform strategy and measure the impact of DEI initiatives.

Progress and Accountability : Drive the measurable progression of leader and employee beliefs, engagement, and actions year-over-year, from awareness to accountability (2023), building capability and performance (2024), establishing future-focused DEI talent and business goals (2025), to embedding DEI strategies in company long-range growth plans (2026). Develop metrics and dashboards to track progress against DEI goals and initiatives. Regularly report on DEI metrics to the executive team and other stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.

Leadership Partnership : Partner across HR to integrate DEI principles and best practices across all talent systems, practices and offerings aligned with business strategies. Build relationships and establish an active leadership presence with external organizations, advocacy groups, and community partners to both inform and be informed about best practices and emerging trends in DEI.

Engagement and Empowerment : Engage, educate, equip, and empower employees at all levels to take personal responsibility and accountability for DEI as a core talent strategy and business imperative. Act as a change agent to cultivate a culture that values and drives diversity, equity, and inclusion. Develop and implement communication strategies to promote DEI initiatives and successes internally. Ensure transparency and regular updates on DEI efforts and progress.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in HR leadership roles

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful DEI strategies

  • Experience delivering cross-functional projects and leveraging HR technology, data, and program management

  • Strong demonstrated knowledge and practical application of external DEI best practices and trends

  • Experience leading change at the enterprise level, through teams both in direct reporting line and cross-functionally

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion awareness, knowledge, and skills to put into self-, team-, and organizational practice; experience designing DEI talent programs required

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain composure under pressure and a professional and positive attitude

  • Strong organizational and time management skills necessary to manage multiple assignments in a rapidly changing environment

  • Experience partnering with senior leadership and talent management teams.

  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $145,300 - $185,870 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
