Magna Legal Services runs on a growing portfolio of business applications — supporting everything from case and client management to internal operations — most of it built and hosted on Azure. Keeping that portfolio secure, stable, and cost-effective is a shared responsibility between our enterprise development teams and our infrastructure organization, and it's growing more complex as the number of applications and the scale of our cloud footprint increases.

We're looking for a senior cloud solutions architect and hands-on systems engineer who can lead solution design and remain directly involved in implementation. You'll partner with development teams to design new Azure solutions and work with infrastructure to keep the underlying platform secure and well governed.

Position

You'll design, build, and govern the Azure environment that supports Magna's applications firm-wide — not any single product, but the full portfolio of business and client-facing systems our enterprise development and infrastructure teams run on. You'll own the security, configuration, and operational stability of that environment, and manage and monitor cloud costs and usage across it.

You'll partner closely with enterprise development teams to design cloud-native and hybrid application architectures — IaaS, PaaS, containers, and serverless — and with our general infrastructure team on the identity, networking, and hybrid connectivity that everything else depends on.

You'll also keep an eye on where the platform is headed: tracking upcoming changes to Azure and Microsoft 365, planning how to absorb them without disrupting the business, and making sure the rest of IT is up to speed on what's changing and why.

Primary Responsibilities

Architect and build secure, cost-effective cloud solutions on Azure to meet business and application requirements across Magna
Own the governance, configuration, security, and stability of the Azure environment — manage and monitor cloud costs, services, and hybrid infrastructure
Partner with enterprise development teams to design and implement cloud-native and hybrid application architectures (IaaS, PaaS, containers, serverless)
Partner with the general infrastructure team on identity, networking, directory services, and hybrid connectivity between on-premises and Azure
Work with IT leadership and business units to understand requirements, and develop and execute plans to implement and deploy responsive solutions
Track upcoming changes to the platform and plan how to absorb them without operational interruption
Monitor and communicate service performance to stakeholders; make sure delivery meets business requirements and SLAs
Champion the adoption of Microsoft 365 and Azure services where they genuinely help the business, and help train and develop the IT staff who support them
Create and maintain policies and documentation for the proper use of Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, and other cloud services
Collaborate with networking, security, support, and application teams to resolve issues effectively
Document changes using change management best practices
Maintain a highly secure environment through proper configuration and access monitoring
Keep up to date with evolving Azure and Microsoft 365 technologies

Desired Background

8+ years designing, supporting, deploying, and evolving technology platforms and infrastructure in a highly distributed enterprise environment
8+ years of Microsoft Windows Server administration experience
5+ years of experience with Microsoft 365 in an environment of 700+ users
3+ years designing, deploying, and supporting Azure, including mission-critical and highly secure workloads
Deep knowledge of the Microsoft cloud ecosystem — Azure Storage, App Services, Azure Networking, Containers, Data Services, Defender for Cloud, and Entra ID
Deep knowledge of Active Directory, Configuration Manager, networking, DNS, Hyper-V, clustering, and GPOs
Experience managing directory sync into Azure AD, migration to Azure AD, and hybrid coupling with Azure AD Domain Services
Advanced PowerShell skills for managing Azure and Microsoft 365 at scale
Excellent written and verbal communication — you'll be translating between business needs, developers, and infrastructure
Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Sciences or a similar field, or equivalent experience and/or certifications

Preferred Qualifications

MCSE, Microsoft 365, Azure (IaaS/PaaS), or equivalent cloud certifications
Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM/Bicep/Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with containerized (AKS) or serverless (Azure Functions) architectures
Experience with Azure Landing Zones or similar governance/subscription design work
Experience with data security standards and regulations relevant to the legal industry
Experience in a legal or regulated business environment, including handling highly secure and confidential client data

The Team

You'll report to the IT Director / VP of IT. Your day-to-day partners:

Enterprise development teams — for cloud-native and hybrid application architecture across Magna's application portfolio
General infrastructure team — for identity, networking, and hybrid on-premises/Azure connectivity
IT leadership and business units — for requirements, priorities, and rollout planning
Networking, security, support, and application teams — for day-to-day issue resolution

$160,000 - $190,000 a year

An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
