The Senior Account Manager will drive new business growth and manage relationships within California state and local government agencies. They will identify new opportunities, respond to RFPs, and partner with delivery teams to ensure client success and revenue growth.
Senior Account Manager – California Public Sector Location: California (Sacramento/Bay Area preferred) Will consider candidates outside of CA if they have strong ties to CA Public Sector Travel: 25%. This is a remote role. Reports To: Chief Commercial Officer Department: Sales / Business Development About the Role Speridian is seeking a Senior Account Manager to drive new business growth within California's Public Sector — specifically state and local government agencies. This is primarily a business development role, including account management and delivery responsibilities. The right candidate will spend the majority of their time identifying, mining, upselling and closing new opportunities, while working closely with delivery teams to ensure client success supports future growth. Ideal Candidate Profile Someone who has "lived" in the California state/local government ecosystem — either as a vendor account rep or as an engagement/delivery lead for a major SI. Candidates with a background in delivery, engagement management, or account management for the State of California and relationship depth with public sector buyers is a plus. What You'll Do
Own and drive the account management for California state and local government accounts, with revenue growth as the primary measure of success
Leverage existing, named relationships within California state and/or local government agencies to open doors and accelerate deal cycles
Identify new business opportunities, upsell or cross Speridian capabiltieis, respond to RFPs/RFIs, and develop capture strategies for target accounts
Build and maintain relationships with government consulting firms that influence or advise on state/local procurement
Represent Speridian at industry events, government conferences, and vendor days across California
Partner with delivery and engagement leadership to ensure proposed solutions are credible, deliverable, and aligned with agency needs
Provide accurate pipeline forecasting and account planning to sales leadership
Stay current on California state and local government budget cycles, procurement vehicles, and policy priorities relevant to IT/technology services
What You Bring
Demonstrated, specific relationships within California state and/or local government — candidates must be able to speak to who they know (by name and agency/department) and the nature of those relationships
Prior experience as an account representative, engagement manager, or delivery manager supporting the State of California, ideally with a large systems integrator (SI)
A track record of selling into public sector accounts, not just managing delivery of existing contracts
Existing relationships with government consulting firms serving California state/local government is a strong plus
Strong understanding of California state and local government procurement processes (e.g., RFPs, master service agreements, CMAS, GSA schedules, etc.)
Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and executive presence with government stakeholders
Willingness to travel regularly within California (Sacramento and key local government hubs)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; 8+ years in public sector sales, account management, or delivery, with at least 3-5 years specific to California state/local government
