The Business Development Manager will drive revenue growth by executing sales strategies, managing client relationships, and conducting discovery meetings. The role involves transitioning from an SDR-focused ramp phase to full territory ownership, including travel for in-person school district visits.
ADROIT is seeking a Business Development Representative who will begin in an SDR-focused role and grow into ownership of the Central Region. During the initial ramp, this person will make outbound calls, identify qualified prospects, and schedule appointments for the sales team. After successfully completing the ramp, the representative will take responsibility for developing the Central market by visiting schools, building relationships, managing opportunities, and closing new business.
Key Responsibilities
Phase 1: SDR Ramp (October-December 2026)
· Make consistent outbound calls and send follow-up emails to schools, districts, and education organizations.
· Identify decision-makers, qualify potential opportunities, and schedule appointments for the business development team.
· Research target accounts and maintain accurate contact, activity, and follow-up information in HubSpot or the designated CRM.
· Learn ADROIT's services, value proposition, customers, sales process, and Central Region accounts.
· Shadow discovery meetings, school visits, and sales presentations in preparation for territory ownership.
Phase 2: Central Region Business Development (January 2027 onward)
· Own business development activity and revenue growth for the assigned Central Region territory.
· Travel within the Central Region each month for in-person visits with school districts, prospective customers, and current clients.
· Conduct both virtual and in-person meetings, discovery conversations, presentations, and relationship-building visits.
· Build strong relationships with school administrators, transportation leaders, procurement teams, social service professionals, and other decision-makers.
· Lead discovery meetings and presentations, identify transportation needs, and move opportunities through the sales process.
· Prepare and coordinate proposals, pricing requests, cooperative agreements, and RFP responses using company approval processes.
· Maintain an active pipeline, provide accurate updates and forecasts, and consistently follow up until opportunities are won or closed.
· Partner with Operations and Customer Care to support successful launches, client retention, and account growth.
Qualifications
· Experience in sales, business development, education, student services, social work, school administration, transportation, or a related field is required.
· A sales background or experience working in education is strongly preferred.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
· Must be comfortable making outbound calls, setting appointments, presenting to customers, asking for business, and working toward revenue goals.
· Strong communication, relationship-building, organization, and follow-up skills.
· Must reside in or near a major metropolitan area in Missouri, Kansas, Michigan, or Wisconsin.
· Ability and willingness to travel within the Central Region each month for in-person school district and client visits, including occasional overnight travel, evening events, and conferences.
· CRM experience is preferred; HubSpot experience is a plus.
