Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, review financial records, reconcile accounts, and monitor payables, receivables, invoices, and expenses. As the business continues to grow, the company is looking for a detail-oriented accounting professional who can take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping while helping leadership improve financial visibility through budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and analysis.
The Bookkeeper & Financial Analyst will manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities while supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
The role will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, monitoring performance against budget, preparing financial reports, and helping leadership identify important trends, discrepancies, risks, and areas requiring attention.
This is a hands-on and analytical role suited to someone who can maintain accurate books while also interpreting financial information and providing meaningful insights to leadership.
Fully Remote | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST | Part-time | 20-hours a week.
Oversee bookkeeping activity completed by the company’s external bookkeeping provider.
Review QuickBooks and financial records for accuracy and identify discrepancies, incorrect categorization, or items requiring correction.
Perform regular bank and account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
Review transaction records, journal entries, and supporting documentation for accuracy and proper categorization.
Support cleanup and reconciliation of historical financial records as needed.
Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and expense activity.
Identify issues or aging items requiring attention and provide leadership with visibility into their status.
Review financial obligations and related reports to ensure items are properly tracked and issues are identified early.
Maintain and update company budgets and financial tracking.
Monitor actual financial performance against budget and identify meaningful variances.
Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts and financial projections.
Analyze historical and current financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Provide leadership with clear financial insights and recommendations.
Help leadership understand the financial implications of business performance and spending.
Prepare accurate financial reports and summaries for leadership.
Provide clear budget-to-actual and financial performance reporting.
Ensure financial information is organized, reliable, and easy to understand.
Proactively identify and communicate discrepancies, trends, and financial issues requiring attention.
Help improve financial visibility and reporting processes as the company grows.
Use ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI solutions to improve financial analysis, reporting, and accounting workflows.
Identify opportunities to streamline repetitive accounting processes.
Improve access to financial information.
Help develop more efficient financial workflows and reporting processes.
5+ years of relevant bookkeeping, accounting, financial analysis, or accounting operations experience preferred.
Strong hands-on experience managing day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
Experience independently identifying and investigating accounting discrepancies.
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and expense management.
Experience working independently and taking ownership of accounting responsibilities.
Experience supporting a growing business is a plus.
Strong hands-on QuickBooks experience.
Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
Experience performing bank and account reconciliations.
Experience working with journal entries and general ledger management.
Experience with budget management and budget-to-actual tracking.
Experience developing and maintaining cash flow forecasts.
Strong financial reporting and financial analysis capabilities.
Experience managing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
Ability to analyze financial information and identify meaningful variances and trends.
Ability to investigate discrepancies and understand their underlying causes.
Ability to communicate financial information and insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude for accounting, reporting, or financial analysis is strongly preferred.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and follow-through.
Ability to independently take ownership of accounting responsibilities and confidential financial information.
QuickBooks and financial records are accurate, organized, and consistently up to date.
Bank and account reconciliations are completed regularly and discrepancies are addressed promptly.
Historical financial issues are identified and cleaned up as needed.
Leadership has a clear and reliable view of current financial performance.
Budgets, forecasts, and budget-to-actual tracking are consistently maintained.
Cash flow and upcoming financial obligations are clearly tracked.
Financial reports are accurate, timely, and easy to understand.
Important financial trends, discrepancies, and risks are proactively identified and communicated.
Leadership receives meaningful financial insight rather than simply a set of numbers.
AI and technology are used where appropriate to improve financial analysis, reporting, and workflows.
