The Sr. Director, EMEA Power Product Management owns the regional product portfolio strategy for the Power Business Unit across eight product lines: Large Converter (including Large UPS); Low & Medium Voltage; Energy Storage, BESS & Microgrid; Switchgear (Low & Medium Voltage); Medium Converter (Medium UPS and DC Power for Telco and Data Centre); Power Software & Controls (EPMS); Power Switching & Distribution (STS, RPP, PDU); and Busbars (indoor & outdoor).
This role is the region's primary interface with the Global Business Units (GBUs) responsible for global product platform development, and is accountable for converting EMEA market requirements, including the rapid scale-up of AI Factory, hyperscale and colocation infrastructure, into funded global roadmap commitments. The Sr. Director builds and leads the regional Product Line Manager team, sets the operating standards that team works to, and ensures the portfolio is positioned, priced and ready to sell ahead of customer demand.
The role carries an EMEA-wide remit across a Power product portfolio of approximately $1 billion, with a mandate to double the business within three years.
This is a strategic leadership role rather than a steady-state portfolio administration function. The Power BU is moving from a historically single-digit organic growth trajectory to a 30–40% growth mandate, driven by the pace and scale of AI Factory and hyperscale infrastructure build-out. The Sr. Director is expected to operate as a credible strategic partner to global R&D and GBU leadership, shaping how the portfolio evolves rather than simply administering what it receives and to hold product quality and lead-time competitiveness as headline measures of how well that portfolio performs in market.
Strategic Leadership & Growth Mandate
- Lead the shift from a historically reactive, single-digit-growth regional operating model to a proactive model capable of supporting 30–40% portfolio growth, driven by hyperscale and AI Factory demand.
- Operate as a credible strategic partner to global R&D and GBU leadership, with the gravitas to influence platform investment decisions and to make the commercial case for regional requirements in a fast-moving, high-growth market.
- Champion a portfolio mindset across the region that treats product quality, lead time and availability as competitive differentiators, not just operational metrics — and holds the Product Line Manager team accountable accordingly.
Business Direction & Portfolio Strategy
- Define the EMEA Power product vision and multi-year portfolio strategy in partnership with the EMEA Power BU leadership team; translate it into actionable plans for each product line.
- Build and lead a team of Product Line Managers, each accountable for the regional roadmap, lifecycle and commercial performance of their assigned product line.
- Continuously map evolving requirements across hyperscale, colocation, NEO Cloud and enterprise segments, grid interconnection standards, thermal load profiles, regional compliance — into product and platform requirements.
- Translate AI-driven load volatility and evolving grid-connection requirements into BESS, UPS and power-conversion platform requirements — positioning energy storage as a grid-connection enabler, not only an optimisation layer.
- Anticipate and shape the portfolio for emerging power architectures — higher-voltage DC distribution (e.g., 800VDC), rack-level power delivery, sidecar energy storage ensuring EMEA requirements are represented in GBU platform planning early.
Global Business Unit Interface & Roadmap Influence
- Serve as the region's primary voice within global product steering forums; represent EMEA market requirements with the data and urgency needed to secure GBU prioritization and funding.
- Identify critical customer feature and capacity gaps at the earliest design stage and drive their inclusion in global R&D pipelines, ahead of the point where deployment timelines compress and changes become costly.
- Hold GBUs accountable for delivery against agreed regional commitments; escalate and help resolve roadmap conflicts where regional and global priorities diverge.
Product Lifecycle & Commercialization
- Own end-to-end product lifecycle management, phase-in through phase-out, across all eight product lines, including regional adaptations and configurations.
- Lead cross-functional product introduction programs, ensuring Technical Sales and Presales & Application Engineering teams have documentation, certifications, training and collateral ready ahead of formal product launches.
- Define EMEA marketing positioning and outbound content for the Power portfolio in collaboration with marketing.
Operational Strategy: Supply Chain, Manufacturing Footprint, Quality & Lead Time
- Shape the regional supply-chain and manufacturing-footprint strategy for the Power portfolio with operations and supply chain, influencing where and how products are sourced and built to secure capacity, resilience and competitive lead times as volumes scale toward doubling.
- Drive structural lead-time improvement as a strategic priority, addressing root causes in sourcing, component availability, manufacturing capacity and design with the GBUs and operations, not merely tracking lead-time metrics.
- Own product quality and field performance across the portfolio in partnership with engineering and operations; embed quality gates into the NPI process and drive root-cause resolution on recurring quality escalations.
- Champion product safety as a non-negotiable design parameter, ensuring the portfolio meets electrical safety standards and certifications, and that product-safety and field-safety incidents are surfaced and resolved with the GBUs through the NPI quality gates.
- Oversee, review and approve engineer-to-order (ETO) and configure-to-order (CTO) processes for product lines that require them, ensuring configurations remain deliverable within committed lead times.
Financial Performance
- Accountable for the full Power product offering P&L and market share gains across the region, alongside AOP, Price Gain Target Plan, inventory and ITO performance.
- Own order intake performance for newly commercialized product variants, tracking the return on regionally-driven roadmap investment.
- Review backlog and pipeline by product line; align with SIOP planning; identify risk to the sales plan and opportunities for book-and-ship.
Pricing & Commercial Policy
- Develop and implement regional pricing policies that balance competitiveness with margin and Price Gain targets.
- Approve special discount requests within delegated authority; guide the Product Line Manager team in executing pricing strategy and monitoring competitive trends.
- Lead competitive intelligence and win/loss analysis across product lines to inform pricing, positioning and roadmap priorities.
Market Intelligence & Voice of Customer
- Gather and synthesize regional Voice of Customer across product technologies and segments; channel it into GBU product planning.
- Define target market segments and country-level analysis across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
- Define go-to-market approach (direct vs. indirect) by product line and identify channel optimization opportunities.
- Maintain a forward radar on EMEA regulatory and market-structure shifts, grid codes (ramp-rate, power-factor, inertia), the EU Energy Efficiency Directive and data-centre energy-reporting regime, and efficiency and embodied-carbon requirements now entering customer tenders and translate them into platform requirements and roadmap priorities ahead of competitors.
AI-Enabled Decision-Making & Productivity
- Champion AI adoption across the Product Line Manager team, embedding AI into market and competitive analysis, trend detection, portfolio analytics and business-case development to sharpen decisions and compress time-to-insight.
- Set the standard for using AI to accelerate roadmap and pricing decisions and shorten time-to-market, within Vertiv's data-security and governance guidelines.
Team Leadership & Operating Standards
- Establish and enforce consistent product management operating standards across the Product Line Manager team, covering portfolio and lifecycle management, pricing and profitability, competitive intelligence, market segmentation, customer engagement and partner training, and business planning and forecasting.
- Size and structure supporting roles (product specialists, business analysts) by product line, based on complexity, revenue and roadmap intensity.
- Own day-to-day people management: performance management, capability development and team engagement.
- EMEA Power Business Unit Leader (reporting line): joint ownership of regional Power strategy and growth targets.
- Global Business Units: primary regional counterpart for platform development, roadmap prioritization and funding decisions across all eight product lines.
