The Opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President of Product and Solutions Marketing, you will be a crucial member of the Product Marketing Team, and you will be a key contributor to both the Marketing organization and the company overall. This highly visible role will interact cross-functionally with marketing, partnerships, sales, technical sales and community development. 

This opportunity is ideal for hands-on industry-expert storytellers with experience in delivering user-centric applications across industries such as financial services, retail, telecommunications, media and entertainment, gaming, healthcare, logistics, travel services, and high-tech application development. The role will help define how Couchbase creates and aligns to industry-specific values and needs. You will research application requirements, identify functionality that aligns to Couchbase capabilities and identify partnerships and complementary technologies needed to bring a vertical application solution to market. 

The Organization 

This role is preferably located in our Santa Clara headquarters, but remote candidates are welcome. Product marketing is eight people strong. The worldwide Marketing organization consists of five teams; Communications, Field Marketing, Product Marketing, Developer Engagement, Partner Alliances and Demand Generation. You will work with all of them to research vertical applications, their requirements and advantages, craft messaging, sales content, demand generation programs, long-form content such as white papers and customer case studies. 

The ideal candidate has a product manager’s mindset in researching industry-specific software application requirements, understanding their impact on that industry, and crafting value propositions appropriate for our sales and partnership organizations.  The role will work with Couchbase field sales and partnerships, particularly cloud service providers. 



  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for our database-enabled solutions aligned to the needs of vertical markets.
  • Create compelling industry-specific content, including presentations, application examples, customer stories, sales enablement, partner engagement, and other solution content.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of product messaging and positioning.
  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs and industry trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key industry influencers and partners.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in solutions marketing, product marketing, or a related role in the tech industry.
  • Experience in the database technology sector is a plus as is work as a subject matter expert in a systems integrator building vertically-specific applications.  
  • Experience in relational or non-relational databases, specifically MongoDB, DataStax, DynamoDB, Aerospike, MapR, Redis or MySQL or cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, Azure or others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with predictive and generative AI products and applications.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority.
