The Corporates Segment, Europe – Senior Solution Consultant provides deep indirect tax and technology expertise throughout the sales cycle, leads demonstrations of the Indirect Tax solutions and acts as the regional subject matter expert for the DACH market. 

We are seeking a Senior Solution Consultant, fluent in German and English, to join our Corporates Segment team in Europe with a primary focus on the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), supporting Sales Teams throughout the full sales cycle for ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Compliance and ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination. The ideal candidate brings extensive, hands-on indirect tax expertise – including a thorough understanding of European VAT compliance, the e-invoicing and digital reporting mandates reshaping the region, and the challenges multinationals face across local and global jurisdictions - together with proven experience of indirect tax technology, whether gained at a tax engine or compliance software vendor (eg ONESOURCE or other Engine or Compliance platforms), in consulting, or in-house at a multinational. In this role you will lead the solution strategy on our most complex and strategic opportunities, run tailored demonstrations and proofs of value in German, mentor colleagues across the Solution Consulting team, help shape the product roadmap by channelling market feedback to Product Management, and act as a trusted advisor to Heads of Tax and senior finance stakeholders across the region. 

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the senior ONESOURCE Indirect Tax solution expert, with a focus on the DACH region, representing our solutions to all levels of the tax, finance and IT teams of global companies, up to and including Head of Tax, CFO and CIO level.

• Own the solution strategy on complex, multi-country and strategic opportunities: manage multiple customer prospects, proactively identify tax process issues and support the sales team in developing proposals and customer business cases to establish a ‘win’ in the overall sales process.

• Lead solution demonstrations, discovery workshops and proofs of value in both German and English, presenting the value proposition and aligning solutions to the customers’ business needs. Communicate through multiple channels, including virtual and onsite presentations across Europe.

• Responsible for drawing on the appropriate skills in the areas of Indirect Tax compliance, e-invoicing and digital reporting, business processes, and business operations throughout the sales process.

• Take ownership of the client experience, ensuring that customer excellence is delivered throughout the sales cycle and delivery process, and developing trusted advisor relationships with senior client stakeholders in order to create client champions and advocates.

• Lead responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and tenders, including German-language submissions, working cross-functionally to ensure they are accurate, compelling, and delivered on time.

• Represent Thomson Reuters as a credible expert voice in the indirect tax community - at customer events, industry conferences, webinars and through thought leadership, in German and English.

• Partner with Sales leadership on territory and account planning, bringing an informed point of view on where the most significant indirect tax technology opportunities sit.

• Be the DACH and Europe product expert for the Indirect Tax solutions, focusing on ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Compliance and ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination, and working with the other Solution Consultants in the team to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are apprised of latest developments and the product roadmap.

• Responsible for producing and maintaining demo data and demo environments to present different use cases based on customer needs, and for developing scripts and product documentation.

• Support the preparation of technical resources for the Sales teams to use, deliver product/service enhancement presentations, trainings to sales teams on industry and product updates.

• Work closely with the Sales team to achieve sales targets. 

• Work with Marketing and the Sales team on activities including white papers, webinars, events and conferences - including German-language content and DACH-specific campaigns - to drive new opportunities.

• Work closely with Product Management to identify industry trends, act as the voice of the DACH market, collect feedback from the field, evaluate capability enhancements and validate business cases for future development.

• Mentor and coach other Solution Consultants, sharing indirect tax and product knowledge, reviewing demo approaches and helping to raise the standard of solution consulting across Europe.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Solution Consulting function – playbooks, demo assets, enablement material and ways of working – taking the lead on initiatives beyond your own deals.

Technical/Professional Skills & Competencies:

• Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in Indirect Tax / VAT, gained in consulting at an accounting firm, in-house within a multinational corporation, or with an indirect tax software vendor, with ‘hands on’ tax and accounting experience.

• Proven experience with indirect tax technology - tax determination engines and/or VAT compliance and reporting software (eg ONESOURCE) - whether gained as a vendor, an implementation consultant or an in-house user.

• Knowledge of Indirect tax complex supply chain transactions (multi-party), having the understanding of the VAT implications. Along with knowledge of the Indirect AP and AR processes driving the downstream compliance process, as well as the typical filing obligations required to be performed.

• Strong familiarity with the ERPs widely used (SAP ECC / S/4HANA, Oracle) and/or other financial systems, including tax engine integration points and the associated document flow requirements (POs, invoices etc.) for trades in both B2B and B2C.

• A dynamic presenter and quick thinker with the personal gravitas to hold the room at senior and C-level, able to articulate the value proposition as it relates to each prospect’s unique critical business tax issues.

• Customer oriented approach with strong skills in negotiation, complex problem solving and conflict management

• Highly entrepreneurial and ability to work across multiple teams/parts of the organisation

• Ability to successfully work in an agile environment. Ability to thrive amidst ambiguity and adapt to shifting circumstances

• Strong collaboration, teamwork and relationship building skills across multiple functions and levels in the organization to develop joint solutions

• Familiarity with AI tools and emerging technologies; ability to leverage AI-driven capabilities to enhance productivity, support demonstrations, and drive innovation in the sales cycle.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and upskill others, and to lead through influence across sales, product and marketing teams without direct authority.

Required qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree and or professional qualification in Accounting or Tax;
• Fluent German and English, written and spoken – German is essential for this role;
• Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in indirect tax and/or indirect tax technology, including client-facing, consulting or pre-sales exposure;

Preferred qualifications:

• Additional European language skills (for example French) will be considered an asset
• A professional tax qualification
• Experience implementing, supporting or pre-selling a tax determination engine or VAT compliance platform.
