AI Summary

The Senior Product Manager will translate user needs into product requirements and drive the development lifecycle from definition to launch. They will also collaborate with data scientists and engineers to optimize AI-enabled features and communicate product value to stakeholders.

Overview

Certara accelerates the potential of bringing medicines to market and to patients using biosimulation software, technology, and services to transform traditional drug discovery and development. Our clients include more than 2,400 biopharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and regulatory agencies across 70 countries.

Our goal is to enable the life sciences industry’s use of data, modeling, and analytics to make better decisions across the various phases of discovery and drug development. Our software and scientists incorporate modern advances in scientific understanding, drug development experience, data analysis, and AI resulting in significant opportunities to decrease the cost and increase the probability of success for new drug approval and commercialization.

Senior Product Managers will deliver value to clients via improvements to our software product offerings. Specifically, you will identify problems and opportunities to direct our engineering R&D efforts and the improvements that create the most value—optimizing complex trade-offs in the process.

You sit at the intersection of business, UX design, and technology. You feel at home empathizing with customers’ business challenges, sharing thoughtful insights with product designers, writing detailed specifications for developers, passionately sharing your ideas to executives, politely saying “no”, making tough decisions without all the information you’d like, and pouring through data to extract the key insight, … all in the same day.  You thrive on creating order from chaos and are a passionate advocate for creating systems and processes to avoid having to do the same thing twice.

Responsibilities

  • Translate users' experiences, usability feedback, unmet needs, and satisfaction levels into requirements and user stories
  • Drive development of new features and enhancements through definition, planning, design, build, and launch phases of product development
  • Glean critical feedback from users during the product discovery process to refine designs and reduce risks
  • Clearly communicate customer stories, pain points, and product benefits to our users and internal stakeholders
  • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision-making, drive adoption and assess impact of decisions (build-measure-learn)
  • Define requirements and evaluation criteria for AI/LLM-enabled authoring capabilities (e.g., prompt design, retrieval, human-in-the-loop review); partner with data scientists and data engineers to measure and optimize output quality, latency, and cost
  • Promote Certara products in presentations, webinars, workshops, events, and conferences
  • Author best practice guides and help articles; create in-app help and instructional tips for user onboarding
  • Curate product knowledge to efficiently distribute key knowledge to various stakeholder communities and customers

  • Experience working with data engineering teams on data pipelines, data quality, and integration requirements
  • High tolerance for ambiguity, low tolerance for mess; able to create order out of chaos, attend to details, and push quality higher
  • Relentlessly resourceful and discerning in solving problems independently vs. seeking help from others; brave yet humble in working across multi-disciplinary teams where each person is more of an expert than you in their chosen field
  • Eager to constantly learn and improve, flexible in adapting to change, comfortable in growing through successes and setbacks
  • Fastidious for facts, insistent on evidence- and data-driven choices, able to separate signal from noise
  • Able to effortlessly tune communication style and approach for maximum results with varied audiences such as Engineering, Sales, Product Managers, Executives, and Customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing products and collaborating with highly educated technical users such as scientists, mathematicians, programmers, or regulatory medical writers
  • Education or qualifications relating to business, programming, data science, health sciences, medical writing, customer support, project management, or corporate communications
