The Strategy and Business Transformation division collaborates to ensure the long-term health of our organization. We partner across divisions to enable TNTP to sustainably scale its impact in line with its strategic plan, focusing on cross-functional operational, strategic, and financial considerations that are difficult for any single division or team to solve on their own. Within this division, the Business Operations team provides strategic advising, analysis, and thought leadership on TNTP’s revenue and sales pipeline in service of business and impact goals.   

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Some responsibilities and duties may vary, but the role of Senior Manager, Business Operations includes:  

  • Develop and collaborate with a manager, business operations to implement business operations processes that support TNTP’s fee-for-service and grant-funded work, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and data integrity across systems. 

  • Conduct landscape research and analysis to support creation and implementation of business development strategies and resources 

  • Provide direct strategic support to TNTP partners in developing proposal, RFP, and grant budgets and associated narratives 

  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline data in Salesforce by ensuring leads and opportunities are updated with complete and accurate financial and activity data 

  • Act as a strategic thought partner in analyzing performance toward KPIs for a portfolio of projects 

  • Lead a portion of quarterly forecasting cycles, including analyzing budget to actuals and project performance milestones and facilitating some forecast calls, advising Partners on adjustments 

  • Apply tools (e.g., ASC 606 logic) to review revenue recognition for complex/multi-year opportunities. Create and maintain processes for tracking toward deliverables and milestone-based contracts, providing documentation to enable invoicing against milestones. 

  • Lead grant launch processes, including facilitating kickoff calls, ensuring operational readiness, determining special handling requirements, and ensuring setup supports accurate and allowable revenue recognition 

  • Analyze grant spending, identifying budget to actuals variances and advising partners to address risks 

  • Drive continuous improvement in operational processes, identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable solutions 

  • Provide project level ad hoc analysis or challenge resolution support 

  • Provide region or division level business development reporting as requested 

 

WHAT YOU HAVE 

Qualifications and Experiences 

The Senior Manager should possess the following skills and expertise: 

  • 4-5 years of business operations experience—experience managing a project and revenue portfolio strongly preferred; 

  • Experience with business development processes such as proposal budget development and sales portfolio analysis; 

  • Strong command of business operations best practices and the ability to adapt that knowledge to fit unique organizational contexts 

  • Evidence of strong cross-team collaboration skills, the ability to manage up, and executing deliverables through working with multiple stakeholder relationships; 

  • Excellent written communication skills with a demonstrated track record of communicating effectively with diverse audiences; 

  • Experience using CRMs to track lead and opportunity progression and activity; Salesforce experience strongly preferred;

Candidate understands funder points of view and priorities to skillfully position proposals and presentations to anticipate questions and articulate TNTP’s work and impact, especially when creating written communications.   

  • Be thorough and accurate. Candidate has proficient experience with Excel, calculations, and budgets. Candidate demonstrates strong project management and organizational skills, helping you manage multiple priorities with attention to detail. 

  • Problem Solving: Candidate can assess the big picture, analyze root causes, and define new ways forward. Candidate critically assesses challenges, leverages resources, and proposes creative, effective solutions.   

  • Cross Cultural Agility: Authentic self-reflection, self-awareness, and high emotional IQ actively leveraged both to support a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion internally and to position TNTP business development efforts and communications with a commitment to lifting the experiences of the students and families we serve.   

  • Strategic Prioritization: Consistently manages complex, high-stakes projects with multiple stakeholders and tight timelines, including events. Effectively adjusts priorities to meet a fast-paced and at-times ambiguous environment. Candidate navigates inherent uncertainty in creating and implementing strategy and systems that are new to the org and is comfortable proactively managing up when priorities shift. 

 

WHAT WE OFFER 

The salary range for this position is $79,089.00 - 118,634.00. New hires can typically expect a starting salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint ($79,089.00 -$98,861.50), in alignment with experience, qualifications, and our commitment to equity in compensation.
