The Human Resources Department is part of the Administration Division, alongside Operations, Compliance, and Finance. HR supports the organization and its employees through talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance and professional development, employee engagement, and HR systems and operations. The department partners with leaders, managers, and employees to maintain effective and equitable people practices that support organizational priorities and a positive employee experience.
Position Summary
The Senior HR Generalist (People & Culture) manages key programs and practices across talent acquisition, employee experience, performance management, learning and development, and HR operations. The position partners with managers and employees to implement consistent, equitable, and people-centered HR practices and helps ensure employees are effectively supported throughout the employee lifecycle.
Working within established People & Culture strategies, policies, and frameworks, the Senior HR Generalist leads assigned HR programs from planning through implementation, identifies opportunities for improvement, and provides guidance to managers and employees on HR processes and practices. The role also manages the organization’s fellowship program and contributes to effective HR systems and operations that support a positive and inclusive employee experience.
The annual salary range for this full-time, remote position is $84,000–$91,000. Starting salary is determined based on the qualifications, skills, and experience directly related to the position.

Essential Functions
Talent Acquisition
- Manage full-cycle recruitment processes to attract diverse, mission-aligned, and qualified candidates and support timely and effective hiring.
- Partner with hiring managers to develop job descriptions, recruitment plans, and equitable selection processes aligned with organizational standards and established compensation and position frameworks.
- Advise and support hiring managers throughout the recruitment and selection process, promoting consistent and effective hiring practices.
- Manage the candidate experience from recruitment through offer and transition to onboarding, ensuring clear, timely, and professional communication.
Employee Experience & Lifecycle
- Lead implementation of consistent, values-aligned onboarding and offboarding practices that support employee integration, engagement, and organizational learning.
- Coordinate across managers and departments to ensure employees experience effective transitions into, within, and out of the organization.
- Manage employee lifecycle processes and data associated with new hires, promotions, transfers, status changes, and departures, ensuring timely and accurate implementation.
- Identify trends and opportunities to strengthen employee experience, engagement, recognition, retention, and organizational practices, and recommend improvements to People & Culture leadership.
Performance Management
- Manage implementation of the organization’s performance management cycle, including goal setting, feedback, assessments, and related processes.
- Provide guidance, resources, and training to managers and employees to support consistent and effective use of established performance management practices.
- Monitor implementation and participation across the organization, identify process or support needs, and partner with People & Culture leadership to address recurring challenges.
- Review feedback and performance process data to identify trends and recommend improvements to tools, resources, communications, and practices.
Fellowship Program Development & Management
- Manage the organization’s fellowship program, ensuring effective implementation and alignment with organizational goals, values, and established program objectives.
- Develop and maintain an inclusive, growth-oriented fellowship experience that provides meaningful learning, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Manage fellowship outreach, recruitment, selection, onboarding, and program implementation, with attention to expanding access and representation.
- Partner with fellows, managers, and internal stakeholders to evaluate program effectiveness and continuously strengthen the fellowship experience.
Learning & Development
- Partner with managers and departments to identify learning and development needs and translate identified needs into relevant learning opportunities and resources.
- Develop, coordinate, and support organization-wide learning and professional development initiatives, including manager and supervisor development.
- Facilitate or coordinate learning opportunities and identify appropriate internal or external resources to support employee and manager development.
- Evaluate participation, feedback, and program effectiveness and recommend improvements that strengthen learning, professional growth, and accessibility.
HR Operations, Systems & Process Improvement
- Manage assigned HR systems and operational processes to support accurate, consistent, secure, and effective People & Culture operations.
- Maintain employee information and HRIS data integrity and support effective administration and continuous improvement of BambooHR and related HR tools and resources.
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes, strengthen documentation, improve employee and manager resources, and enhance the overall effectiveness of People & Culture operations.
- Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of HR policies, programs, systems, and cross-functional People & Culture initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of progressively responsible human resources experience, including experience across talent acquisition, employee lifecycle programs, performance management, learning and development, HR operations, or related HR functions.
- Demonstrated experience managing HR programs or processes from planning through implementation and evaluating opportunities for improvement.
- Experience advising and supporting managers and employees in the application of established HR policies, programs, and practices.
- Strong judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive information and situations appropriately and recognize when matters require escalation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple areas of responsibility, establish priorities, and deliver accurate and timely work as organizational needs evolve.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across roles, teams, and perspectives.
- Experience working with HR information systems and maintaining accurate and confidential employee data and records.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using modern HR technology, including BambooHR or a comparable HRIS platform.
- Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or comparable human resources certification.
- Experience supporting learning and development, fellowship, internship, or other structured employee development programs.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, advocacy, mission-driven, or similarly complex organization.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
