Sales Development Representative – South Africa | R240K–R270K Base + R385K OTE | Remote (AU/NZ Hours)
You'll be cold-calling into Australia and New Zealand from South Africa, for a founder who's still doing the exact same job himself, every single day.
Tridence books sales meetings for AU/NZ B2B and SaaS companies through outbound cold calling. Nothing else — no inbound, no marketing funnel, no warm leads. Just the phone, a pre-built list, and a target.
Right now the founders — Jack Li and Calvin Raju — are the bottleneck. Demand from clients already outstrips what they can personally deliver, and they're turning away new business because they don't have enough SDRs on the desk. That's not a hypothetical growth story. That's happening this month.
They're bootstrapped, they're profitable enough to keep hiring, and they're projecting capacity for 5-7 new client onboards a month once they've got the team to support it. This isn't a single hire to plug a gap — it's the start of an ongoing bench they're building out properly.
Every new SDR gets roleplay-trained directly by Jack and Calvin before they're allowed near a real client call. You represent Tridence's clients from day one, so they don't let people wing it.
Why This Role?
R240,000–R270,000 base + OTE up to R385,000, paid primarily on meetings booked that actually show up
Work directly with the founders — Jack and Calvin still cold-call every day themselves, so you're trained by people doing the job, not a manager three levels removed from it
No prospecting, no list-building, no research — Tridence hands you pre-qualified call lists and territory mapping, you just work the phone
Genuine scaling story: client demand already exceeds delivery capacity, meaning your seat exists because the business needs it now, not "eventually"
Established tech stack (HubSpot + Aircall) that's already integrated and working — you're not troubleshooting broken tools
Direct path to carrying a second client account as you prove yourself, with additional loading on top of base OTE
Small, flat team — no layers of management between you and the people who actually decide things
What You'll Actually Do
Cold-call into pre-built, pre-qualified lists for AU (and occasionally NZ) B2B and SaaS accounts — no research or targeting required, it's done for you
Book qualified sales meetings for your assigned Tridence client
Work Aircall and HubSpot daily during Australian business hours
Hold your own in conversations that touch on APIs, integrations, and other enterprise SaaS concepts — you don't need to be technical, but you need to speak the language credibly
Represent a client's brand professionally on every single call, from day one
Maintain consistent daily call volume and booking cadence without anyone checking in on you hour to hour
Take roleplay coaching from Jack and Calvin before going live, and keep sharpening your pitch as you go
Who This Suits
You don't need a fancy sales pedigree. What matters is whether you can pick up the phone, take rejection on the chin, and do it again the next call — and the one after that — without someone standing over your shoulder.
You've got a background in outbound cold-calling specifically — high volume, high rejection, no soft leads to lean on
You've sold or booked meetings in SaaS before, ideally at an enterprise level
You're genuinely self-disciplined — you work from home, unsupervised, on someone else's business hours, and you don't need a manager checking in to stay sharp
You've got a sense of humour — the client's clients are Australian, and Australians respond well to South African callers who don't take themselves too seriously
You're coachable. Roleplay training happens before you ever touch a live client, and low ego wins here
Bonus: you started out as an engineer or in a technical role before moving into sales — that's the founders' explicit ideal profile, because you can speak credibly about integrations and APIs without faking it
Some enterprise SaaS sales experience helps, but a genuine cold-calling background and the discipline to work unsupervised matter more.
What Success Looks Like
Weeks 1-2: Roleplay-trained directly by Jack and/or Calvin, working through call scripts and objection handling until you're ready for live calls
Month 1: Fully live on your assigned client account, hitting consistent daily call volume
Months 2-3: Meeting-booking rate stabilising, comfortable navigating technical conversations without hand-holding
Month 4+: Proven enough to pick up a second client account, with the extra loading that comes with it
Ongoing: One of the trusted, senior SDRs on the bench as Tridence scales toward 5-7 new client onboards a month
Why This Opportunity Is Different
Most offshore SDR roles feel exactly like what they are — a cost-saving exercise where you're a name on a spreadsheet, trained by a video course, and managed by someone who's never made a cold call themselves. This isn't that.
Jack and Calvin are still on the phones every day. They built this business on cold-calling and they're hiring people to do the job they already know intimately, which means the training is real, the expectations are honest, and the growth is happening because the business genuinely can't keep up with demand.
Be upfront with yourself about the hours — this is night-shift work locally to cover Australian business hours, and the pay is priced for the South African market, not benchmarked against AU or NZ salaries. If that trade-off works for you, this is one of the more legitimate outbound sales seats going in South Africa right now.
