Job Description

The Regional Head of Banks and Financial Institutions, North America will lead growth and commercial development for Coface’s Financial Institutions segment across the region. Reporting to the Regional Chief Commercial Officer, this leader will earn Coface a meaningful seat at the table with banks, financial institutions and specialized brokers for established structures and traditional trade credit insurance transactions. The portfolio includes accounts receivable finance, supply chain finance, securitization of B2B receivables, factoring and other structured trade and working-capital solutions supported by credit insurance. The role requires a commercially driven FI specialist who combines strong market relationships, client advisory, deal structuring and negotiation expertise with disciplined cross-functional execution. The successful candidate will bring a strong achievement orientation, resilience and a consistent drive to convert market opportunities into measurable, sustainable results. The ability to help develop innovative or first-of-a-kind solutions is valuable but not a primary requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own new business, retention and portfolio growth for the Financial Institutions segment in North America.
  • Originate and execute FI transactions and established structures across trade finance, receivables finance, supply chain finance, securitization and related working-capital solutions, ensuring Coface is considered early and consistently by key market participants.
  • Build and deepen senior relationships with banks, financial institutions and FI-specialized brokers, positioning Coface as a trusted partner for complex and bespoke transactions.
  • Translate regional and Group FI strategy into actionable growth priorities, target-client profiles, underwriting strike zones and clear market guidance.
  • Advise clients and intermediaries on risk-transfer structures that support financing objectives, capital optimization and applicable regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Jointly vet, curate and negotiate bespoke policy wordings with banks and specialized FI brokers - including NPI, syndicated and non-cancellable structures - and secure required approvals from Coface Group Headquarters in Paris.
  • Use New York City as a central meeting point for engaging key U.S. FI stakeholders, including banks, financial institutions, specialized brokers and other relevant market participants.
  • Work closely with the Group FI team in Paris and with Commercial, Underwriting, Legal and Operations colleagues locally and globally to align solutions, mobilize resources and deliver transactions from origination through execution.
  • Build trust and effective working relationships with the Group FI team through regular collaboration and extended stays in Paris, typically one week at a time, particularly during the initial onboarding period.
  • Lead cross-functional growth initiatives, strengthen execution discipline and develop repeatable solutions and go-to-market approaches for the FI segment.
  • Provide visible commercial leadership, executive-level communication and disciplined pipeline management across the North American FI portfolio.
  • Lead, coach and develop the current team of two FI Account Managers, with the opportunity to expand the team as the FI business delivers against its growth trajectory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field preferred.
  • Significant experience in Financial Institutions, trade credit insurance, banking, credit specialties or structured trade and working-capital solutions, with a strong record of originating and executing FI transactions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in trade finance, receivables finance, supply chain finance and related insurance structures, including transactional, regulatory and capital-relief considerations.
  • Proven ability to structure and execute established insurance solutions and policy wordings for traditional and bespoke FI transactions across multiple jurisdictions; experience developing innovative or first-of-a-kind solutions is an advantage.
  • Strong commercial orientation and a track record of growth, client development and successful execution with banks, financial institutions and specialized brokers.
  • Established credibility and relevant relationships within the U.S. and global FI ecosystem.
  • Excellent structuring, negotiation, executive presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and coordinate Commercial, Underwriting, Legal, Operations and Group stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority.
  • International perspective and willingness to travel frequently, including regular engagement in New York City and extended working periods in Paris during onboarding and as business needs require.
  • High achievement orientation, resilience and constructive competitiveness, with the discipline to set ambitious goals, take ownership and deliver sustainable results while maintaining sound judgment, collaboration and high ethical standards.
  • Pragmatic, entrepreneurial and solution-oriented working style, with accountability and a strong focus on client outcomes.
  • Fluent English required; additional language capabilities are an advantage.
