Hi! 👋 I'm Anna, and I lead Product Marketing at WeTravel 🇳🇱
I'm hiring a second product marketer to build this function with me. I want to give you the full context of the opportunity.
Multi-day travel businesses (think of a 7-day safari in the Serengeti or a 5-day scuba diving trip in the Galápagos) sell over $300B of travel annually around the world. Ten thousand of those businesses, worth $3B in travel sales, use WeTravel as their end-to-end operating system. They use WeTravel to manage sales processes, collect payments, and run their back offices. WeTravel is their eCommerce stack, with checkout at the center of it.
WeTravel has 400+ team members representing 88 countries. We have offices in Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, and Baku, and many team members who work remotely around the world. Financially, we are secure and growing fast, with 60 to 100 percent year-over-year growth depending on the metric.
Our clients love our innovative product. We’re launching at least 5 meaningful features every month across diverse product domains that cover everything a multi-day travel operator does. A new feature can be a Custom Website Builder to optimize website traffic, CRM AI features to convert that traffic into bookings, Quoting features to more easily price trips, an AI and content library to build a more compelling trip page (the equivalent to an eCommerce product detail page), Checkout improvements to collect payments around the world better, AI features to automate Supplier Management, and so on. This webinar shows examples of our new features from May (and we’ve evolved a lot since then).
We listen closely to our clients and build features that help them. Our company goal is to help multi-day travel companies run more of their business on WeTravel. This aligns with our own revenue strategy, since we make money when our clients make money.
But a feature that ships that nobody hears about doesn’t translate into value for clients or revenue for WeTravel. It’s just sad. But bridging that gap is not easy. Our clients are busy running trips, not reading release notes. That is where our Product Marketing function comes in. Our mission is to ensure everything we ship is discovered, understood, and used. We measure ourselves on adoption: the share of active clients using each of our 12 product themes, and the number of products each client adopts.
As we ship faster, how we take our features to market has to scale with it. That is why we are updating our operating model and doubling down on our Product Marketing function by hiring this role.
In our expanded Product Marketing function, we will split responsibilities across two people:
I will focus on company-level product marketing positioning, operations, and infrastructure. That includes managing the launch calendar and checklist (mundane but important), stitching stories across features to market WeTravel as a whole product, maintaining external communities, and so on.
This new role will focus on taking each feature to market, ensuring the feature’s story gets told and that clients understand it and actually use it. You own the feature marketing plan and its execution end-to-end, including what you need from everyone who contributes from product managers to marketing channel owners to the account managers to customer support reps.
Here’s one example of how your time may be split.
Individual feature launches (~75% of your time)
Own the launch plan for each feature and align with the commercial teams on comms and activities.
Drive the channel plan for each launch with the commercial marketing team, who owns the website, social, paid, and lifecycle channels. You decide what each launch needs from them, and when.
Craft and set up comms (emails, in-product messages, and Loom-style demo videos).
Update onboarding materials (product tours, emails, and the Onboarding Center) to reflect new launches.
Run our monthly product newsletter.
Partner with me on the product contents for our major events such as the annual spring release, Travel Innovation Summit, and Operator Innovation Day.
Adoption of existing features (~25% of your time)
You own adoption of the features you launch: reading the numbers after go-live, spotting which features are stalling, and deciding the fix.
Host live product webinars: partner with me on the overall webinar calendar throughout the year, host the sessions, and bring in other presenters like PMs, designers, engineers, and account managers.
Run ad hoc promo campaigns for existing features that need an adoption boost.
Localize content into Spanish when it’s required for better communication.
We are looking for a highly organized product marketer with sharp product sense and great communication skills. If you love travel and tech, and you want adventure and dynamism in your work, you will thrive in our scale-up environment (not a big company, but not a small startup either).
Hard requirements:
Has 7+ years of communication-heavy professional experience, including at least 3 years in B2B product marketing at a tech company.
Writes fluent business English that a busy tour operator would want to read and understand easily.
Is an excellent storyteller in writing and on camera. You will be a visible face of our product to thousands of clients.
Has a track record of successful B2B email and in-product campaigns (ideally highly targeted).
Uses AI tools to work faster and more reliably while owning the quality of everything that ships.
Is comfortable digging into data and surfacing your own insights.
Nice to have:
Writes fluent business Spanish and deeply understands Latin American travel business culture.
Experienced in CRM tools and other customer engagement platforms (e.g., Customer.io).
Experienced in SQL, advanced Excel/Google Sheets, and other analytic tools.
Has video and audio editing skills, since those formats help us communicate with our busy audience.
This role is not a good fit for someone who:
Prefers to stay behind the brand. This role puts your face and personality in front of customers, on webinars and in videos, almost every week.
Wants to set strategy and hand off production. This role writes, records, and ships the work itself.
Wants a to-do list. You will own your priorities against clear outcomes, with support and without daily direction.
Our process aims to be high-signal and help you learn about WeTravel and our people.
Application
Video intro: This role puts you on camera explaining powerful features (including AI) to clients around the world. Therefore, our application includes a 3-5 minute video that I (not the recruiter) will review to see how you introduce something you know well on camera. Please introduce yourself, or a product of your choice. Any video format is fine (e.g., free Loom).
First round
Recruiter screen (30 minutes): Introduction, background, and motivation.
Second round
Manager interview (45 minutes): Your experience, how you run launches, lessons you’ve learned over the years, what you want to learn, and how we would work together.
Take-home assignment (no more than 2 hours of your time): A launch plan and sample assets for a WeTravel feature we have already launched, with a short brief and access to a demo environment. We share the evaluation criteria together with the assignment, so you know exactly what we are looking for.
Final round
Cross-functional interview (30 minutes) with our Commercial Marketing Manager (based in Texas) and our Head of Account Management & Enablement (based in Mexico): Behavioral discussion to deepen our understanding of your collaborative skills.
Company leadership Interview (30 minutes) with our CPO: A two-way discussion about mission, business ambition, the importance of our growing Product Marketing function, and culture.
