We are seeking an OPERATIONS AND LEASING PARALEGAL to join our dynamic legal team. This position is responsible for providing legal counsel and support to the company's real estate leasing operations, while also assisting in supporting various business units including Property Management, Tenant Coordination, Construction, and Asset Management. An integral aspect of this role includes drafting, negotiating, and interpreting various real estate documents, providing legal support for real estate related disputes and litigation, and managing legal processes that align with the company's core business functions and goals. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare initial drafts and redline various lease documents, including leases and amendments with oversight from in-house counsel.
  • Review and analyze landlord comments to various lease documents with oversight from in-house counsel; assist in preparation and review of responsive drafts.
  • Prepare licenses (parking licenses, storage container licenses, etc.) and other short-term agreements with oversight from in-house counsel.
  • Review and assist with estoppel requests and commencement date agreements.
  • Support in-house counsel, asset management, and property management to negotiate resolution of landlord/tenant claims.
  • Communicate effectively with lawyers, tenants, property managers and company employees.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in a paralegal role, or similarly positioned role, majority of time focused on real estate leasing transactions. Experience with retail leasing preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree - Paralegal certification not required but preferred.
  • A general understanding of commercial real estate concepts, including acquisitions, financings, dispositions, and leasing.
  • Knowledgeable about title insurance, surveys, insurance requirements, and standard closing processes are a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Word skills, including redlining documents, excellent typing skills, and familiarity with Google productivity tools.
  • Self-motivated with high integrity and ethical standards, as well as strong attention to detail.
  • Confident in one's speaking ability as it relates to lease negotiations as well as internal business communication - we do not hide behind email!
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills, as well as a desire to learn and improve.
  • A suitable candidate for this position should have the ability to be self-motivated, in order to complete multiple leasing transactions under strict deadlines.
  • Licensed Notary Public or willing to get license within 6 months of hire.
