Opportunities may include in-house, inside, or outside sales roles.
Specific responsibilities, work location, schedule, compensation structure, and exempt or non-exempt classification will vary based on the position and business needs.
Essential Responsibilities

Interview prospective borrowers and complete accurate and thorough loan applications.
Evaluate customers’ financial needs and recommend appropriate mortgage products and financing options.
Clearly explain loan programs, terms, interest rates, fees, documentation requirements, and next steps.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, real estate professionals, builders, attorneys, financial partners, and other referral sources, as applicable.
Generate mortgage loan opportunities through company-provided leads, personal business development efforts, or both, depending on the assigned role.
Communicate promptly and professionally with borrowers, referral partners, and internal team members throughout the loan process.
Collaborate with processors, underwriters, closers, and other team members to support an accurate, efficient, and timely closing experience.
Use telephone, email, video conferencing, customer relationship management systems, loan origination software, and other technology to manage customer relationships and loan activity.
Meet established goals for loan production, quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Follow all BankSouth Mortgage policies, procedures, and documented loan-origination requirements.
Protect the confidentiality and security of customer and company information.
Maintain compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and fraud-prevention, BSA, and OFAC standards.
Assist with audits, examinations, documentation requests, and the resolution of loan exceptions or other issues as needed.
Represent BankSouth Mortgage professionally and positively in all customer, business, and community interactions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience
Minimum of two years of recent residential mortgage lending or loan-origination experience preferred.
Proven ability to originate mortgage loans, develop referral relationships, manage company-generated opportunities, or a combination of these activities.
Must hold and maintain all licenses and registrations required to originate mortgage loans in the applicable state or states.
Working knowledge of residential mortgage products, real estate transactions, underwriting guidelines, processing, closing, and regulatory requirements.
Strong customer-service, relationship-building, and sales skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex mortgage information clearly.
Strong organizational, time-management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple customers, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with loan-origination systems, CRM platforms, digital communication tools, and other business technology.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operations and support teams.
High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant work experience will be considered.
Work Environment
Depending on the opportunity, the position may involve working primarily from a BankSouth Mortgage office, remotely through telephone and digital channels, or in the community developing business and meeting with customers and referral partners. Some positions may require regular travel to business-development activities, community events, real estate offices, attorney offices, or customer meetings.
