THE ROLE

At Avantia Law, we pride ourselves on our top-tier legal services across the private markets industry. We are now expanding our expertise to include a dedicated practice focused on ISDA schedule negotiations, and we are looking for an entrepreneurial finance/ regulatory lawyer to lead this initiative.

This role is initially offered on a consultancy basis, with the expectation it will lead to a full W2 position in the future. We are flexible and are happy to consider options to suit the successful candidate.

  • Lead Avantia Law's new practice area dedicated to ISDA agreements.
  • Negotiate, edit and review ISDA schedules and other ISDA documentation.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance on ISDA-related matters to our clients.
  • Develop and implement best practices for managing ISDA documentation.
  • Manage and deepen your client relationships and act as a trusted advisor to your clients.
  • Work with other Avantia lawyers and paralegals, review the work of more junior team members and assist with training when required.
  • Collaborate with leadership, growth and technology teams to strengthen and continuously improve Avantia's ISDA product.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in the United States with at least 5 years post qualification legal experience (gained either in-house or in private practice)
  • Extensive experience in negotiating ISDAs.
  • Strong understanding of derivatives markets.
  • Entreprenurial mindset.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills.
  • Familiarity of working with asset managers, investment banks or other financial services firms
  • An interest in artificial intelligence and legal tech is very welcome!
