HR Generalist Position Summary The HR Generalist is a fully remote position that provides day-to-day HR support to employees and leaders across a multi-state, multi-location organization. This role supports a broad range of HR functions, including payroll, benefits, leave administration, compliance, performance management, employee relations support, and employee lifecycle processes. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded HR professional who can work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and provide responsive, accurate, and confidential HR support to primarily onsite employees, center leadership, and a smaller remote workforce. Key Responsibilities Employee Relations Support Serve as a point of contact for employees and leaders regarding general HR questions, policies, procedures, and workplace concerns. Provide day-to-day support to managers on routine employee relations and performance management matters. Assist with employee relations investigations, documentation, and follow-up in partnership with HR leadership. Escalate employee relations concerns to HR leadership as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee information. Payroll & HRIS Administration Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and within established deadlines. Enter and maintain employee changes in HRIS and payroll systems, including compensation changes, promotions, transfers, status changes, and other employment updates. Process employee reimbursement requests and wage garnishments. Support state tax registrations and monitor required tax actions for new and existing states. Review payroll-related information for accuracy and assist with resolving discrepancies. Maintain accurate employee data and records within HR and payroll systems. Respond to and resolve payroll-related questions and issues in a timely and accurate manner. Benefits Administration Manage employee benefit changes and maintain accurate enrollment information within applicable benefit systems. Respond to employee questions regarding benefits, eligibility, enrollment, and qualifying life events. Review completed measurement periods for new hires and determine eligibility for applicable insurance benefits. Assist employees with benefit-related issues and coordinate with benefit providers as needed. Support annual benefits administration and other benefits-related projects and initiatives. Leave, Accommodations & Compliance Administer leaves of absence in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Coordinate the ADA accommodation process, including documentation, employee communication, and follow-up in partnership with HR leadership. Process unemployment claims and coordinate responses with appropriate internal stakeholders. Support workers' compensation matters, including claim documentation, employee communication, and follow-up as needed. Respond to revised background check determinations and complete required state actions, including those applicable to Utah employees. Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Assist with HR compliance projects, audits, policy updates, and other regulatory requirements. Performance Management Coordinate the performance review process, including reminders, tracking, follow-up, and completion. Assist with the preparation and distribution of compensation statements. Support managers and employees throughout the performance review process. HR Administration & Employee Records Own the employee offboarding process, ensuring all steps outlined in the HR termination checklist are completed accurately and timely, including required documentation and system updates. Complete employment verification requests in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential employee records throughout the employee lifecycle. Maintain and update employee information in HR systems as needed. Ensure required HR documentation is completed and maintained in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements. Reporting & HR Data Pull and distribute monthly attendance reports to appropriate leadership. Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Manager on turnover and retention reporting. Assist with identifying trends and opportunities for improvement related to turnover, retention, and other HR metrics. Prepare HR reports and data as needed to support leadership decision-making. Maintain accurate HR data and records to support reporting, compliance, and operational needs. HR Team Support & Collaboration Collaborate with the broader HR team to provide consistent, timely, and high-quality support to employees and leaders across the organization. Provide cross-functional coverage for other HR functions, including recruiting and onboarding, when team members are unavailable or additional support is needed. Partner with the Talent Acquisition & Onboarding team to support a seamless employee experience throughout the hiring and onboarding process when needed. Assist with HR projects, process improvements, policy implementation, and organizational initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, employee experience, and operational efficiency. Compensation & Schedule: Fully remote position, supporting employees in Utah, South Dakota, and other remote locations. Hands-on experience with payroll, benefits administration, leave administration, compliance, and general HR operations. Experience providing HR support to employees and managers, including exposure to employee relations and performance management. Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Experience handling confidential and sensitive employee information with discretion and professionalism. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue should be handled independently versus escalated to HR leadership. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with employees and leaders across multiple locations. Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and effectively manage competing priorities in a remote environment. Proficiency with HRIS, payroll, benefits, and other HR-related systems. Preferred Qualifications Prior HR experience within the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) field is highly preferred. Healthcare experience is highly preferred if ABA experience is not available. Experience supporting a multi-state workforce PHR, SHRM-CP, or other relevant HR certification is a plus. Physical Requirements Stationary Position: Ability to remain in a seated or standing position for extended periods while performing administrative duties. Repetitive Motion: Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, operating a computer, and handling office equipment. Visual Acuity: Ability to view a computer screen and read written materials for prolonged periods. Communication: Ability to effectively communicate, including speaking and hearing, to participate in meetings (in-person and virtual) and phone calls.
