AgAmerica is seeking an exceptional Head of Sales & Business Development to lead its national agricultural mortgage lending platform through its next phase of growth.
AgAmerica built a recognizable brand, strong operational infrastructure, and proven lending track record over its decade-plus history. The opportunity is to assemble a best-in-class sales organization capable of generating substantial qualified loan volume through data-driven execution, targeted strategic partnerships, and outstanding talent development.
The ideal candidate is a builder, coach, and operator who combines expertise in mortgage
lending, credit, and agricultural finance with a demonstrated ability to transform, scale, and lead sales organizations. They understand the durable processes necessary to create sustainable growth. This individual is motivated by the opportunity to address the growing needs of the American farmer and the evolving agricultural finance market.
This leader will conceive and execute a national sales strategy, establishing a balance
between an internal sales engine and external referral networks. They will recruit and develop a high-performing team that is capable of quality lead generation. They will utilize KPIs to create transparent accountability. While this leader is capable of individual deal sourcing in the early build-out phase, success will ultimately be evaluated based on team-driven production outcomes.
This role is designed for a transformational leader who wants to build an enduring sales and business development organization, not simply maintain an existing one.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
SALES LEADERSHIP & ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Lead and grow AgAmerica’s national sales organization.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to accelerate agricultural mortgage originations, prioritizing geographies, commodities, and client profiles based on value proposition.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top-performing sales talent. Mentor future sales leaders
through active coaching. - Design organizational structure, market segmentation, and incentive compensation to
achieve defined performance outcomes. - Identify new product opportunities.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, entrepreneurship, and accountability.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & REFERRAL PARTNERSHIPS
- Collaborate with marketing to promote the brand and enhance market penetration.
- Represent AgAmerica across external channels. Seek and encourage active
engagement with leaders throughout the industry. - Build strategic relationships with key stakeholders and influencers including
correspondent lenders, advisors, brokers, farm managers, trade associations, financial
institutions, attorneys, and accountants, among others. - Expand referral-based origination channels across the agricultural ecosystem to complement direct outside sales efforts.
DATA-DRIVEN SALES MANAGEMENT
- Standardize sales architecture utilizing best practices and repeatable processes.
- Infuse CRM utilization, pipeline management, and reporting frameworks into the
team’s day-to-day operating rhythms to enable data-informed feedback loops. - Drive team accountability and cross-functional awareness through KPI dashboards.
- Benchmark sales activity metrics, conversion rates, and referral source throughput.
- Breed a culture of measurement, testing, and continuous improvement.
LENDING, CREDIT & RISK ALIGNMENT
- Partner closely with lending, credit, closing, and servicing teams to support positive
client, capital, and stakeholder outcomes throughout the loan life cycle. - Promote a culture that values both production and portfolio quality.
- Guide and reinforce a strong understanding of credit underwriting, structuring, and risk-based pricing across the team.
- Ensure that profitability and growth outcomes are built on a foundation of disciplined
risk management and sustainable investment results.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in mortgage lending,
agricultural finance, banking, or related financial services. - Strong credit background with the ability to evaluate loan structures, underwriting considerations, and credit risk.
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling geographically distributed teams.
- Proven history of recruiting, developing, and retaining top sales talent.
- Significant experience implementing sales processes and KPI-driven management.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a high-growth, performance-oriented environment.
- Alignment with the mission: to understand the American farmer, to provide innovative
financial solutions, and to act as a guidepost in a changing agricultural landscape.
TRAVEL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Travel may be required.
AGAMERICA MISSION
- To know the farmer.
- To counsel the farmer.
- To provide a financial structure that allows the farmer to thrive in good times and to sleep well during tough times.
