Working closely with the Director of Marketing, operations leadership, club teams, agency partners, and vendors, the Growth Marketing Manager identifies growth opportunities, translates business objectives and club performance data into actionable marketing plans, and ensures effective execution of both digital and local marketing initiatives. This highly collaborative role requires a results-oriented marketer who can successfully balance strategic planning, performance analysis, campaign management, community partnerships, and field-level activation to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Growth Marketing Manager Responsibilities

Growth Strategy and Performance Ownership

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies that drive membership growth, revenue, leads, joins, and same-store sales across open and operating clubs.
  • Translate company goals and club budgets into actionable market- and club-level growth plans.
  • Evaluate performance by location, market, offer, channel, audience, and campaign to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Build targeted turnaround plans for underperforming clubs and growth plans for clubs with additional market potential.
  • Partner with the Director of Marketing to develop annual, quarterly, and monthly growth plans.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of each club’s goals, membership trends, competitive environment, and operational needs.

Campaign Planning and Optimization

  • Lead the execution of promotional campaigns for open and operating locations.
  • Develop campaign briefs, market priorities, messaging recommendations, and club-level activation plans.
  • Ensure digital campaigns are supported by strong local marketing, in-club execution, sales follow-up, and community visibility.
  • Review campaign results and translate findings into clear recommendations for marketing and operations leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to test new channels, audiences, offers, creative concepts, and conversion strategies.

Local and Field Marketing

  • Develop scalable local marketing programs that clubs can execute consistently within their communities.
  • Partner with district managers and general managers to create club-specific plans tied to membership and revenue goals.
  • Establish expectations, playbooks, and accountability systems for local outreach, events, grassroots marketing, and community engagement.
  • Provide clubs with the resources, tools, messaging, and training needed to execute approved marketing initiatives.
  • Regularly assess local execution and identify barriers affecting results.
  • Support priority clubs through market visits, community research, competitive analysis, and hands-on activation when appropriate.

Corporate Partnerships and Community Growth

  • Identify high-value organizations and partnership opportunities within each club’s trade area.
  • Partner with Corporate Sales Manager to establish a clear process for clubs to generate, qualify, escalate, and manage partnership leads.
  • Create partnership packages, presentations, outreach tools, and activation plans.
  • Develop programs that can be replicated across multiple clubs and markets.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the primary marketing partner for operations leadership overseeing open and operating clubs.
  • Build strong relationships with district managers, general managers, sales teams, and club leadership.
  • Lead regular performance discussions and provide clear, actionable marketing recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the Senior New Club Marketing Manager to ensure newly opened clubs transition smoothly into the open and operating marketing structure.
  • Partner with the Marketing Coordinator to execute campaigns, develop materials, maintain calendars, and track local initiatives.
  • Communicate marketing priorities, expectations, results, and next steps clearly across departments.

Budget and Vendor Management

  • Manage assigned open and operating marketing budgets in partnership with the Director of Marketing.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of local media, sponsorships, partnerships, events, and other marketing expenditures.
  • Coordinate with agencies and vendors to ensure work is delivered accurately, on time, and within budget.

Reporting and Insights

  • Track metrics such as leads, joins, cost per lead, cost per join, conversion rate, membership growth, same-store sales, and return on marketing investment.
  • Identify patterns across markets and translate data into practical actions for the field.
  • Document campaign learnings and incorporate them into future strategies and playbooks.
  • Balance quantitative performance data with operational context, market conditions, and execution quality.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of experience in growth marketing, field marketing, multi-unit marketing, local store marketing, performance marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Proven success developing and executing marketing strategies that drive measurable customer acquisition, lead generation, membership growth, and revenue performance.
