Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) Account Manager

Rebellyous Foods is a growth-stage plant-based meat company working to make our products available and affordable for everyone through the design of novel manufacturing technology. Rebellyous Foods is seeking a GPO Account Manager who enjoys making a difference, being a part of a team, and takes pride in working in a fast-paced, constantly changing startup environment. We are seeking a mission-focused and dedicated team member to enthusiastically represent our products, create sales opportunities, and build partnerships with foodservice customers. 


What we are looking for: 

The GPO Account Manager is responsible for developing and executing the company's national GPO strategy to drive contracted sales growth across key foodservice channels, including K-12, healthcare, higher education, business & industry, hospitality, and commercial foodservice. This individual will build strategic relationships with national and regional GPOs, negotiate and manage contracts, identify growth opportunities, and collaborate closely with distributor partners, brokers, marketing, and the field sales team to maximize contract utilization and revenue growth. The ideal candidate is an experienced foodservice sales professional with strong knowledge of GPO contracting, distributor economics, and the non-commercial foodservice landscape.


Position Responsibilities:

GPO Strategy & Business Development

  • Develop and execute the company's national GPO strategy aligned with overall commercial objectives. 
  • Identify new GPO partnership opportunities that increase market access and drive revenue. 
  • Build executive-level relationships with national and regional GPO leadership. 
  • Lead contract negotiations, renewals, amendments, and pricing discussions. 
  • Evaluate ROI and profitability of GPO contracts. 
  • Develop annual business plans with each GPO partner. 

Contract Management

  • Manage all aspects of GPO agreements including: 
    • Pricing 
    • Administrative fees 
    • Compliance requirements 
    • Sales reporting 
    • Contract renewals 
    • Fee reporting
  • Ensure timely execution of contract obligations. 
  • Monitor contract performance and utilization metrics. 
  • Coordinate internal approval processes for new agreements. 

Sales Growth

  • Drive contracted sales growth through existing and new GPO relationships. 
  • Increase contract penetration among member organizations. 
  • Identify underperforming contracts and develop corrective action plans. 
  • Partner with field sales and brokers to convert contract availability into customer wins. 

Cross-Functional Leadership

Collaborate with:

  • National Foodservice Account Managers 
  • Regional Sales Managers Inside Sales Coordinator
  • Broker network 
  • Marketing Operations
  • Finance Logistics
  • Supply Chain  

Distributor & Channel Collaboration

  • Work closely with broadline distributors to maximize GPO contract compliance. 
  • Support distributor sales teams with contract education and growth initiatives. 
  • Coordinate promotional opportunities tied to GPO agreements. 

Market Intelligence

Monitor industry trends including:

  • GPO consolidations 
  • Competitive contract activity 
  • Member purchasing behavior 
  • Regulatory changes 
  • Emerging foodservice channels 
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on market insights.

Reporting & Analytics

Track and report on:

  • Contracted sales 
  • Member participation 
  • Revenue growth 
  • Margin performance 
  • Contract utilization 
  • Pipeline opportunities 
  • Forecast accuracy 
  • Provide regular business reviews to executive leadership.


Qualifications:
Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, or related field. 
  • 5-7+ years of progressive foodservice sales experience. 
  • 2-5+ years managing Group Purchasing Organization relationships. 
  • Experience selling through foodservice distribution. 
  • Strong understanding of GPO contracting and pricing models. 
  • Demonstrated success negotiating complex commercial agreements. 
  • Excellent presentation and executive communication skills. 
  • Ability to travel nationally. 

Preferred

  • Knowledge of food manufacturing operations. 
  • Experience working with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred, HubSpot, First Bite, etc).

Preferred Experience with National GPOs

Experience managing relationships with organizations such as:

  • Premier 
  • Vizient 
  • HealthTrust 
  • OMNIA Partners 
  • Sourcewell 
  • Foodbuy 
  • Entegra 
  • The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) 


Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, kneel, and reach regularly. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 35 pounds. 


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This position may require weekend or after-hours work. 


Location & Travel: Remote work with travel from homebase is required. Work requires about 40%-60% travel time. This requires the possession of a valid state driver’s license and a personal vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed).  


Compensation Package: The salary range for this position, $90,000-$105,000, depends on experience. Medical, dental, vision insurance offered. Paid time off and company holidays.
