WHAT TO EXPECT
As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team as a District Sales Manager. You will be working remotely out of your home office and will be responsible for traveling to and selling Gates products throughout the assigned territory. You will be responsible for selling and promoting the Gates Fluid Power and Power Transmission product lines.
• Your territory will be ONTARIO. Your goals will include meeting or exceeding an annual sales quota along with achieving specific strategic initiatives which align with higher level organizational goals.
• You'll use a consultative selling approach, your technical expertise, and ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with both distributors and end users towards these goals.
• You will research customer needs and develop an understanding of their applications, then apply the proper Gates technologies to improve their overall cost of ownership and productivity.
• You'll work in collaboration with an amazing group of individuals at Gates, across all business functions.
Key responsibilities (to name a few):
• Developing and executing growth strategies for both existing accounts as well as new prospective customers.
• Accelerating growth of new Gates products and solutions.
• Pursuing opportunities to expand our business in new markets.
• Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments within our target markets.
• Making regular sales calls to pursue and discuss opportunities, providing training and other technical support, and increasing overall mind share.
• Following up on leads (both self-generated and provided through marketing initiatives).
• Timely and accurate utilization of our CRM systems. Utilizes Oracle Sales Cloud to track all related activity/opportunities.
• Developing and maintaining short, mid, and long-term sales plans.
• Communicating high value sales activity to contribute to effective product and service planning.
• Providing top-quality, Gates customer service for all clients and prospects.
• Monitoring and communicating competitive activities to identify opportunities and/or countermeasures.
• Heavy emphasis is to successfully grow sales in all Heavy Duty and Hydraulic product families with current customers, and to expand our selling opportunities in other fleet, heavy-duty, and hydraulic niche markets.
• Is responsible to prospect new HD Distributor opportunities
• Learn and develop to have the necessary product knowledge, selling skills, and overall hydraulic operation knowledge to be competent in selling heavy duty and hydraulic products.
• Must be aware of changing conditions and opportunities in your channel and territory which requires development of information sources among customers, prospects, and other industry personnel.
ABOUT YOU
• 3 years of progressive sales experience or equivalent industry knowledge
• High school degree or equivalent work experience is required. College degree in a business or engineering field is preferred.
• Experience in selling Fluid Power and/or Power Transmission products is highly preferred
• Firm understanding of the MRO business is preferred
• CRM experience is preferred
• Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to drive long distances for extended periods of time
• Relocation is not provided
• Travel required for this position is 50-70%
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
