Data Center Project Manager

Job Summary
Network Connex is seeking an experienced Data Center Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and deliver projects supporting Google data center operations. This role oversees project execution from initiation through closeout, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer requirements and company standards. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of coordination for customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams supporting structured cabling, network deployment, remote-hands services, commissioning, maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades.

This is a Remote role in Texas. 

Core Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
•    Lead data center projects from kickoff through completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, turnover, and closeout.
•    Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, staffing plans, resource forecasts, and completion targets.
•    Coordinate daily field operations across shifts, sites, and workstreams.
•    Identify schedule, scope, cost, quality, and resource risks and implement mitigation plans.
•    Maintain project documentation, status reporting, issue logs, action registers, and customer deliverables.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
•    Serve as the primary customer-facing representative for assigned Google projects.
•    Lead project status meetings and provide clear updates on progress, risks, decisions, and required actions.
•    Coordinate with customer teams, general contractors, trade partners, staffing agencies, vendors, and internal leadership.
•    Build effective working relationships while managing expectations and resolving escalations promptly.
Financial & Commercial Management
•    Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and profitability targets.
•    Track labor, overtime, materials, equipment, travel, per diem, expenses, and subcontractor costs.
•    Review and validate timesheets, invoices, supporting documentation, and change-order requests.
•    Monitor contract requirements, billing accuracy, revenue recognition inputs, and financial variances.
Resource & Workforce Management
•    Coordinate recruiting, onboarding, badging, training, scheduling, and workforce deployment.
•    Provide direction to supervisors, field leads, technicians, coordinators, and subcontractors.
•    Monitor staffing levels against project demand and implement recovery plans for shortages or attrition.
•    Coach team members, clarify expectations, and support professional development and accountability.
 
Safety & Compliance
•    Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with applicable EHS, OSHA, customer, and Network Connex requirements.
•    Partner with safety personnel to address hazards, incidents, observations, corrective actions, and site-specific requirements.
•    Ensure project personnel follow site access, security, confidentiality, and work-control procedures.
Quality Control & Delivery
•    Monitor work quality and conformance to drawings, scopes of work, installation standards, and customer specifications.
•    Oversee QA/QC activities, testing, punch-list resolution, acceptance, turnover, and closeout documentation.
•    Validate completion records, as-built information, test results, and supporting evidence before customer submission.
•    Drive continuous improvement based on defects, rework, schedule impacts, and lessons learned.
Vendor, Subcontractor & Logistics Management
•    Manage subcontractor and staffing-partner performance against scope, schedule, quality, safety, and documentation expectations.
•    Coordinate procurement, material availability, equipment, rentals, shipping, and site logistics.
•    Resolve vendor escalations and document corrective actions where performance does not meet requirements.

Required Qualifications
•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, Business Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
•    Five or more years of project management experience, including experience leading cross-functional technical teams.
•    Experience supporting data center, telecommunications, network infrastructure, structured cabling, construction, or critical-facility projects.
•    Demonstrated experience with budget management, schedule tracking, resource planning, risk management, contract administration, and executive reporting.
•    Working knowledge of data center infrastructure, fiber and copper structured cabling, rack-and-stack activities, network deployments, commissioning, turnover, and change-control practices.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, customers, vendors, and senior leadership.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project-management or enterprise workflow systems.
Preferred Qualifications
•    PMP, CAPM, Lean Six Sigma, OSHA 30, or comparable professional certification.
•    Experience supporting hyperscale data center customers such as Google or similar operators.
•    Experience managing large, multi-shift field teams and multiple subcontractor or staffing partners.
•    Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, NetSuite, WorkHub, SiteTracker, or comparable platforms.
•    Familiarity with commissioning, critical facilities, remote-hands services, Day 2 operations, and infrastructure maintenance.

Working Conditions
•    Work may be performed in active construction and operational data center environments.
•    The role may require travel, shift flexibility, weekend or off-hours support, and response to project escalations.
