UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is currently hiring a regular full-time Clinical Research Project Analyst to help support the Oncology Clinical Research Services team located at the Hillman Cancer Center in Shadyside/Pittsburgh, PA. This role will support the Financial Compliance Analysis and Budgets teams. It will be working Monday through Friday daylight hours with a remote schedule.
The Project Analyst will function as an integral member of the Hillman Cancer Center Clinical Trials Coverage Analysis and Budget team, supporting the operational and financial management of clinical research studies. This role is responsible for managing and triaging service center email accounts, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. The Project Analyst will develop, maintain, and enhance workflow dashboards and reporting tools to support team productivity, monitor key performance metrics, and identify opportunities for process improvement. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and managing relationships with external vendors, overseeing associated workflows to ensure compliance with established timelines and requirements, and serving as a resource for troubleshooting OnCore calendar and billing concerns. The individual will collaborate closely with clinical research, finance, and operational teams to support study start-up activities, facilitate efficient workflow processes, and contribute to the successful execution of clinical trial budgeting and coverage analysis activities.
The Clinical Research Services (CRS) team is made up of nearly 200 staff members who facilitate the development, implementation, coordination, internal data monitoring, and completion of oncology-focused trials at Hillman. These trials include institutional (investigator-initiated), multi-center cooperative group/National Clinical Trial Network (NCTN), consortium, and industry-sponsored trials. Using a disease-specific centers model for conducting clinical trials, CRS provides study development and implementation assistance, submissions to the FDA, IRB processing, patient recruitment, study coordination, study-specific training, data collection, and specimen collection and processing.
Responsibilities:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience or High School degree plus 5 years of experience.
Knowledge of clinical research protocol and budgeting preferred
Oncology experience preferred
Clinical Research/Trials experience preferred
Prior work experience as a Project Coordinator highly preferred.
Excellent knowledge of spreadsheet and database software.
Must be very organized and deadline conscious.
Project Management knowledge and ability to manage multiple, complex, large-scale projects.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in operations preferred.
Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred.
Excellent computer skills required, including Access, Excel, Microsoft Project, and other pertinent computer software packages.
Strong management, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written).
This position requires effective planning and organizational skills.
This person must have the ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to providing services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
