Business Development - Data Centers
The Business Development position is responsible for the development, growth, support, and long‑term success of VSP Technologies’ Data Center Sales initiatives. This role drives customer acquisition and strategic account expansion while positioning VSP as a trusted technical and commercial partner.
Essential Functions
- Market Development and Strategy
- Building and maintaining a pipeline of data center projects and strategic accounts
- Identify, target, and close new customers within the assigned territory and/or market
- Monitor industry trends, customer needs, competitor activity, and regulatory influences affecting the data center markets
- Coordinate and support customer training initiatives related to products, applications, safety, and best practices
- Customer Engagement
- Lead high-level customer engagement with engineering, reliability, procurement, and operations stakeholders
- Identifying and developing relationships with data center owners/operators, engineering firms, EPCs, mechanical contractors, OEMs, distributors, and other key influencers
- Collaborate with engineering to align technical solutions with customer operational and compliance requirements
- Project a professional and technically credible image of VSP to promote trust, confidence, and long-term partnerships
- Financial Planning
- Develop forecasts and prepare annual and quarterly budgets for the assigned accounts
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and customer cost-savings initiatives
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of customer savings, value creation, and project outcomes
- Utilize Salesforce as the primary sales, forecasting, and customer management tool
- Collaboration and Relationship Building
- Work closely with internal sales teams, engineering, operations, and leadership to ensure effective execution of growth initiatives
- Maintain positive working relationships across all VSP departments to foster a collaborative, results-driven culture
- Collaborate with the sales organization to ensure quarterly documentation of customer cost savings, value creation, and measurable customer outcomes associated with Data Center opportunities
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness
- Project a favorable image of the company to promote, foster, and enhance public recognition of the company and its products and services
Experience / Education
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, technical discipline, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Ability to understand technical applications and translate product and engineering capabilities into measurable customer and commercial value
- Proficiency with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform, including pipeline management, forecasting, and opportunity documentation
- Customer-facing business development, technical sales, or strategic account experience within data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, industrial markets, or related technical environments preferred
- Proven work experience in business development, technical sales, strategic account management or a similar commercial role preferred.
- Experience in data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, mechanical systems, industrial applications, or related technical markets preferred.
The employee must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record in accordance with Company policy, and reliable transportation necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary based on the demands of the position.
Travel: Moderate overnight travel is expected when working within territory, attending training, and participating in corporate meetings.
