dnl is a fast-growing AI startup building AI-first solutions for auditing. Our software automates disclosure checklists and other document-heavy audit work for audit firms and corporate clients, so professionals can spend their time on judgment instead of manual checking. Our mission: transform auditing through AI and help auditors work smarter than ever before.

The role

You bring many years of audit experience and use it to expand our platform conceptually. You co-decide which audit problems we solve next, design how our platform addresses them, and grow the value dnl contributes to every engagement. This role is for auditors, not career product managers: audit experience is required, product management experience is not.

You know first-hand where audits lose time, where risks are missed and which workarounds teams rely on. You don't need to code. You need to think in structured processes and want to build the tools you always wished you had. You work closely with our engineering and AI team, our customers and the management team.

Tasks

• Identify the biggest pain points across the audit process - from planning to reporting – and turn them into new product areas beyond the current setup
• Develop concepts for how our platform expands its coverage and grows its contribution to each audit engagement
• Co-decide our product roadmap with the management team and engineering: validate problems with audit firms, prioritise what we build next and specify the audit logic behind it - including what "correct" looks like
• Translate accounting and auditing standards (IFRS, HGB, ISA, IDW PS) into clear, software-executable logic, decision trees and workflows
• Design review and control mechanisms that keep the auditor in charge - transparency, traceability and professional skepticism instead of blind reliance on AI
• Make sure our results fit cleanly into audit working papers and firm methodologies
• Work hands-on with engineering and AI to test outputs, evaluate quality and ship improvements fast
• Be the voice of the auditor in the company and represent dnl with customers, at industry events and in regulatory discussions

Requirements

Must haves

• 6+ years in financial statement audit, ideally at a Big 4 or leading mid-market firm, up to (senior) audit manager level
• A solid understanding of engagement responsibility and liability risk - you know what it takes to sign off
• Strong command of IFRS and/or HGB as well as ISA and IDW PS, and the ability to turn standards into reproducible processes
• Structured, analytical thinking: you can sketch a decision tree and define the right outcome for edge cases
• The ability to explain complex topics simply to engineers, customers and decision-makers
• Hands-on experience with AI tools
• Motivation to reshape the profession, not just to take the next career step
• Native or near-native English - German is a plus
• You are Europe-based

Nice to have

• Experience in product management, audit methodology or audit tooling/digitisation projects
• WP/CPA/ACA qualification or working towards one
