Job DetailsJob Location: Remote - CST - Houston, TX 77019Salary Range: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 Salary/yeariHealth Agents, a partnership with The Liberty Company, is an independent insurance agency specializing in Medicare, ACA / Under-65 health plans, and ancillary products. We support a network of independent agents across multiple states with the carriers, tools, training, and back-office infrastructure they need to grow their books and serve their clients well. We're building the agency we wish existed when we started — modern technology, clean operations, and real support for the producers who power our business. We're hiring an Agency Sales Manager to lead the recruiting, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of our independent agent network.
Position Summary:
This is a player-coach role: you've sold insurance yourself, you know what makes a great agent successful, and you genuinely enjoy helping others reach the same level. You'll own the full agent lifecycle — from sourcing new producers, to getting them appointed and producing, to coaching them through the realities of selling Medicare and ACA in today's market.
This role has a significant runway. As iHealth Agents, a partnership with The Liberty Company, scales, this position is the natural path to Sales Director for the right person.
Essential Functions:
Recruit and onboard new agents
Source independent agents through LinkedIn, industry events, agent referrals, and existing networks like online forums and prospect newly licensed agents lists.
Vet candidates for production potential, compliance fit, and cultural alignment with iHealth Agents, a partnership with The Liberty Company.
Walk new agents through contracting, carrier appointments, E&O verification, and CRM access.
Set new agents up for first-90-day success with structured onboarding and clear production milestones.
Train and develop the team
Run weekly or bi-weekly group training sessions on product knowledge, quoting platforms, sales tactics, compliance, and best practices.
Build out a library of training content (recorded sessions, written guides, scripts) for asynchronous onboarding of new agents.
Provide 1:1 coaching for agents who need it — especially newer producers and those underperforming relative to potential.
Stay current on Medicare/ACA regulations, carrier product changes, and quoting platform updates so the team has accurate guidance.
Coach, motivate, and support producers
Be the first call when an agent has a tough client situation, a quoting question, or a compliance concern.
Conduct ride-alongs and listen-ins (with permission) to identify coaching opportunities.
Run regular pipeline reviews with key agents to keep momentum on opportunities.
Maintain agent motivation through recognition programs, leaderboards, contests, and consistent communication.
Identify and remove friction points that block agent productivity — escalate to leadership as needed.
Drive measurable team performance
Own team production targets and report against them monthly to leadership.
Use the iHealth CRM (Zoho) to track recruiting pipeline, agent activation, and ongoing production trends.
Identify underperforming agents early and either coach them up or off-board them respectfully.
Partner with operations and compliance to keep the agent experience smooth and the agency in good standing.
Carry production during peak season and master the tools
Personally sell Medicare and ACA policies during peak enrollment periods (AEP/OEP) to absorb lead overflow, keep response times fast, and make sure no opportunity goes unworked.
Become fully fluent in the iHealth CRM (Zoho) and the agency's quoting engines early in your tenure, and stay current as those platforms change — so you can both produce yourself and coach others with credibility.
Lead by example — model the workflow, scripts, and quoting standards you expect from the agents you train.
QualificationsQualifications/Skills:
Required
3+ years in the insurance industry with deep familiarity in Medicare (Med Supp, MAPD, PDP) and ACA / Under-65 markets.
Active resident health/life insurance license in good standing in at least your home state, and willingness to obtain nonresident licenses in 5+ additional states within the first 90 days.
2+ years of personal production as an insurance agent — you've sold real policies to real clients and understand the work.
2+ years recruiting, onboarding, or training other agents in an FMO, IMO, agency, or carrier setting.
Demonstrated ability to coach others to higher performance — ideally with measurable results you can point to.
Self-directed and accountable in a remote work environment. This role doesn't have a manager looking over your shoulder — you have to want this.
Strong written and verbal communication. You'll be on Zoom, on the phone, in Slack, and in writing constantly.
Willingness and ability to personally sell Medicare and ACA policies during peak enrollment periods to absorb lead overflow — this is a player-coach role, not a desk-only one.
Ability to ramp quickly and self-sufficiently on the iHealth CRM (Zoho) and the agency's quoting engines. Prior Zoho experience is not required, but you must be comfortable learning new tools fast and using them daily.
Strongly Preferred
Top-producer recognition in your producing years (President's Club, top-X% at your agency, MDRT, or equivalent).
Experience using a modern CRM (Zoho, Salesforce, HubSpot, AgencyBloc) for pipeline management, not just contact storage.
Fluency in major quoting platforms (HealthSherpa, ConnectureDRX, Sunfire, AGA, eHealth).
Established relationships with major carriers (UHC, Humana, Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, etc.) for facilitating appointments.
Already holding active nonresident licenses in multiple states — a head start on the multi-state requirement above.
Current AHIP certification and FFM/Marketplace certification.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a meaningful advantage given our market mix.
The Person Who Will Thrive Here:
You think like an owner, not an employee. You'd build this role even if no one was watching.
You enjoy teaching and developing others. Watching someone you onboarded close their first big policy genuinely energizes you.
You're comfortable with ambiguity. Independent agencies move fast and write the playbook as they go — you can build in real-time.
You're technology-comfortable. You don't need to be a developer, but you'll spend significant time in CRM, Slack, and quoting platforms.
You're honest about what works and what doesn't. We don't want yes-people — we want someone who'll push back when our approach is wrong.
Why Join Us:
You're joining at a pivotal growth stage where you can shape the agent experience from the ground up.
Modern infrastructure: we're investing in CRM, automation, and agent tools — you won't be fighting outdated systems.
Clear runway to Sales Director as the team and agency scale.
Direct line to leadership. Your ideas get heard and acted on, not buried in committee.
100% remote work with flexible scheduling, structured around results not hours.
