About the Firm

We are representing a rapidly growing boutique CPA practice that provides tax compliance, planning, and advisory services to individuals and businesses. The firm runs a fully paperless, technology-forward environment and places a strong emphasis on efficiency, analytical rigor, and long-term client relationships. Leadership is growing the senior bench as the practice expands, which creates real room for an experienced tax leader to make an impact.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Tax Senior Manager who can operate as a true senior leader in the practice. This person will own client relationships from first conversation through ongoing service, sign returns, and serve as a mix of first and final reviewer on high-complexity individual returns and select business returns. The role also carries a meaningful share of the workload of a senior leader who is stepping into a Director position, so the firm is looking for someone who can take ownership quickly with minimal ramp time.

The ideal candidate is organized, approaches every issue with an analytical mindset, converts prospects into clients with confidence, and enjoys developing a small team. Comfort using AI tools to accelerate research, paired with the judgment to verify every output against primary authority, is a must in this environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert prospective clients into engaged clients and lead onboarding from start to finish

  • Manage a book of individual and business clients, including staffing assignments and engagement workflow

  • Perform a combination of first and second (final) review on high-complexity returns for individuals and businesses, and sign returns

  • Lead proactive tax planning focused on client tax savings and ongoing opportunities

  • Research complex tax issues and develop well-supported resolutions

  • Apply data analytics and strong problem-solving to client situations

  • Supervise, review, and develop a staff of 2 to 4 team members

  • Communicate directly with clients and coordinate with their other advisors, such as attorneys and financial advisors

  • Manage multiple workstreams and project timelines across the client base

Requirements

  • 10+ years of public accounting experience in individual and business taxation

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's in Taxation a plus

  • CPA or EA preferred

  • Proven experience managing engagements and client relationships, including signing or final review of returns

  • Fiduciary (trust and estate) taxation experience a plus

  • AI fluency: able to use AI tools to accelerate tax research and analysis while verifying outputs against primary authority and managing iterative refinement

  • Strong technology skills in a paperless office: Word, Excel, QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), Adobe Pro, CFS Payroll, and BNA

  • Experience with ProFx or Access Tax preferred

  • Highly organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams, and equally effective working independently or with a team

Benefits

  • Strong base and discretionary bonus, commensurate with experience

  • Medical Benefits

  • 401(k) with up to 4% salary match (eligibility after 1 year)

  • Fully paperless, technology-forward work environment

  • Opportunity for long-term growth within a rapidly expanding practice
