JOB SUMMARY

The System Integrator II – Critical Infrastructure supports the installation, startup, testing, commissioning, deployment, and troubleshooting of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), PLC, and SCADA systems on mission-critical infrastructure projects.

This position is intended for early-career professionals who have a strong technical foundation and are ready to develop practical experience in controls, automation, commissioning, and system integration. The System Integrator II works under the guidance of experienced System Integrators, Lead System Integrators, Controls Engineers, and SCADA Engineers while progressively taking ownership of assigned field and technical activities.

The ideal candidate is technically curious, dependable, comfortable working in active construction environments, and motivated to develop into an independent System Integrator. This position provides hands-on exposure to physical equipment, field devices, PLCs, industrial networks, SCADA platforms, databases, and software integrations supporting complex critical infrastructure systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Installation, Startup & Field Support (70%)

• Assist with controls installation verification, field device checkout, and startup activities
• Perform point-to-point verification and basic troubleshooting under the guidance of senior team members
• Support BAS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA deployment activities
• Verify field devices, sensors, meters, and network communications
• Document deficiencies and support corrective actions

Testing & Commissioning Support (15%)

• Participate in startup, commissioning, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) activities
• Execute assigned test procedures and document results
• Assist with troubleshooting control systems, devices, and communications
• Verify system operation against project documentation and sequences of operation
• Support owner demonstrations, turnover activities, and project closeout

Documentation & Project Coordination (10%)

• Complete daily reports, issue logs, testing documentation, and field notes
• Maintain accurate records of completed work and outstanding issues
• Support updates to as-built documentation, redlines, and punch lists
• Communicate project status and technical issues to project leadership
• Assist with putting together client’s training documents

Technical Development & Continuous Improvement (5%)

• Utilize Participate in technical training and professional development activities
• Develop skills in controls systems, industrial networking, PLCs, SCADA, and commissioning
• Utilize approved digital and AI-enabled tools for documentation and productivity
• Demonstrate continuous improvement through learning, coaching, and hands-on project experience

Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget

Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Technical Skills

• Foundational understanding of electrical systems, mechanical systems, industrial automation, controls, networking, or related technical disciplines
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, control schematics, equipment manuals, and construction drawings
• Experience with using voltage meter, data cable tester and basic tools
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions
• Basic knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), or industrial control systems is preferred
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
• Ability to learn new software, hardware, and technologies in a fast-paced project environment

Highly Preferred Skills

• Workable knowledge of PLCs (Rockwell), SCADA systems (Ignition 8.3), BAS, EPMS, industrial automation, or electrical systems
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, MQTT, OPC UA, or EtherNet/IP
• Exposure to Git, Azure DevOps, APIs, databases, or modern technology platforms
• Exposure to issue tracking software like CX Alloy, ACC etc.
• Internship, military, trade school, manufacturing, construction, electrical, controls, or other hands-on technical experience
• Experience working in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, data center, or mission-critical environments

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Frequently standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in active construction environments
• Working in mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces
• Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Working in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, dust, noise, and outdoor weather
• Using hand tools, test equipment, laptops, and instrumentation for extended periods
• Traveling to customer sites and working extended hours during project startup and commissioning activities as required

TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Approximately 70–95% travel is required based on project assignments
• Travel may include overnight stays, extended assignments at customer project sites, and temporary relocation for the duration of major construction projects
• Employees who reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned project site will be expected to travel to and from the site daily rather than utilize overnight accommodations
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to travel by automobile and commercial air as required
• Availability to work extended schedules, weekends, holidays, and multiple shifts during critical project milestones, startup, commissioning, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST)

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Automation, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Minimum of one (1) years of experience in Building Automation Systems, PLC, SCADA, EPMS, or industrial controls

OR

• Associate degree or technical certification in Automation, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, or a related field
• Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in controls installation, startup, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
