Job Title: Senior Tax Associate – US Tax Preparation

Location: Remote

Reports To: Tax Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced US Tax Senior Associate to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing complex federal and multi-state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations, while also assisting with IRS and state tax notice resolution. This role requires strong technical tax knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a reviewing Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare full U.S. federal and multi-state individual income tax returns (Form 1040), including all relevant supporting schedules

• Prepare U.S. partnership returns (Form 1065), including Schedules K-1, K-2/K-3, and partner capital account reconciliations

• Prepare U.S. C-corporation and S-corporation returns (Form 1120/1120S), including Schedule M-1/M-3 reconciliations, book-to-tax adjustments, and multi-state apportionment where applicable

• Review client-provided source documents (trial balances, financial statements, prior-year returns, K-1s, brokerage statements, etc.) for completeness and accuracy

• Resolve routine IRS and state tax authority notices on behalf of clients, including obtaining Power of Attorney, navigating IRS phone systems, and communicating directly with IRS agents

• Identify and research technical tax issues, escalating open items to the reviewing Manager with clear documentation

• Prepare supporting workpapers that clearly reconcile tax positions to source data

• Respond to review notes and turn around revisions within agreed timelines

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience working for a US public accounting firm

• Professional designation (CPA, EA) or equivalent accounting/tax qualification

• Experience with multi-state and local tax filings

• Proficiency in major US tax preparation software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProConnect Tax)
