The Role

Since its inception in 1992, SUSE has been at the forefront of technical innovation where change has been the only constant.

The primary responsibility of this position is to lead cloud-native infrastructure architecture, automated deployment pipelines, and platform reliability across SUSE’s digital experience platform on a part-time basis. As a Level 09 Expert Individual Contributor, you are recognized as a key technical resource for DevOps and platform engineering within the Digital Experience function, defining standards, managing site reliability, and establishing scalable CI/CD frameworks that influence web operations across teams, sub-functions, and regions.

This will support business growth in line with our ambitious objectives and company culture by maintaining highly secure, resilient, and performant web infrastructure. Critical to achieving excellent results will be your ability to solve highly complex cloud deployment challenges, automate digital delivery pipelines, and establish site reliability best practices within a flexible, part-time working arrangement.

The role sits within the Digital Experience function, reporting to the Engineering Manager / Senior Manager, Digital Experience, who is globally based.

Focus Areas

• Optimizely CMS Platform Mastery: Architecting scalable content models, APIs, head-to-head integrations, and content delivery networks on Optimizely CMS to support complex global web motions.
• Enterprise Web Engineering & Integration: Building secure, resilient backend systems that seamlessly integrate the CMS with MarTech, analytics, CRM, and cloud ecosystem platforms.
• Performance, Security & Operational Reliability: Championing global web performance standards, accessibility (WCAG), strict data privacy compliance, and zero-downtime reliability across B2B web environments.
• AI Adoption & Agentic Web Engineering: Proactively identifying and operationalizing emerging AI capabilities—from automated testing to real-time content personalization and developer efficiency tools.
• Collaborative Digital Product Engineering: Partnering in a high-velocity matrix with frontend engineers, UX/UI designers, marketing operations, and analytics teams to translate complex business needs into elegant digital solutions.

Preferred Experience & Skills

• 5+ years of back-end software development experience delivering large-scale, high-impact enterprise applications, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems.
  
  
• Optimizely backend development expertise: Strong experience developing and extending enterprise websites using Optimizely CMS, with expertise in .NET/C#, APIs, integrations, content models, and backend services. Experience building scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that connect Optimizely with frontend experiences, marketing technology, analytics, and other enterprise platforms.
  
  
• Demonstrable experience leading critical, cross-functional software projects with broad organizational reach and long-term business impact.
  
  
• Solid understanding of database systems architecture, high availability, query optimization, and data modeling across relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL/in-memory (Redis) databases.
  
  
• Excellent communication and strategic influence skills with the ability to articulate architectural decisions, navigate organizational ambiguity, and build consensus with executive leadership.
