AI Summary

The Scrum Master will facilitate Scrum practices for multiple software development pods to improve sprint execution and delivery transparency. They are responsible for identifying and removing delivery impediments, managing risks, and coaching teams toward self-management and continuous improvement.

We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support multiple Agile implementation teams—referred to as pods—within the Arc technology platform.
The ideal candidate will facilitate Scrum practices, improve sprint execution, remove delivery impediments, and promote transparency across the pods. This role requires close collaboration with Product Owners, technical leads, Technical Project Managers, and delivery leadership.
The candidate will help teams improve their Agile maturity, maintain consistent delivery practices, and strengthen collaboration across teams. We are looking for a self-driven, proactive, and responsive professional who can take initiative, anticipate delivery challenges, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively with distributed teams.
Key Responsibilities

Agile Delivery and Facilitation

  • Serve as Scrum Master for multiple software development pods, guiding teams in Scrum practices and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring meetings are productive, timeboxed, and outcome-focused.
  • Lead the refinement and planning process while ensuring Product Owners retain responsibility for backlog maintenance and prioritization, and teams retain ownership of their commitments.
  • Track sprint health and delivery metrics, including velocity, commitment versus completion, and carryover, working with technical leads to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date JIRA boards to ensure transparency of work, capacity, progress, and delivery status.
  • Proactively identify potential delivery challenges, dependencies, and risks, taking initiative to address them before they impact sprint commitments.

Risk and Stakeholder Management

  • Identify, track, communicate, and help resolve pod-level risks, dependencies, and blockers.
  • Escalate cross-pod risks and delivery concerns to the appropriate Technical Project Manager.
  • Provide timely daily, weekly, and sprint-level delivery updates to Product Owners, Technical Project Managers, technology leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Assist Product Owners with the triage of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) issues, production support tickets, and software defects.
  • Facilitate effective communication between stakeholders and development teams.
  • Ensure follow-ups and action items are tracked through completion, maintaining responsiveness and accountability.
  • Prepare and present sprint status, delivery metrics, risks, and key updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Team Coaching and Continuous Improvement

  • Coach teams toward self-management, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration to focus on outcome results.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages transparency, open communication, and continuous learning.
  • Help resolve team conflicts and remove barriers to effective collaboration.
  • Identify process improvements through retrospectives and track agreed actions through completion.
  • Support the adoption of approved AI tools that improve Agile practices, in accordance with organizational data policies.
  • Collaborate with other Scrum Masters to share best practices and promote consistency across teams.
  • Take initiative, and encourage others, to identify opportunities to improve team effectiveness, communication, and delivery processes without waiting for direction.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master supporting software development teams.
  • Experience supporting multiple Agile teams simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve sprint execution and help teams deliver consistently.
  • Strong working knowledge of Scrum principles, roles, events, and artifacts.
  • Experience coaching teams toward self-management and continuous improvement.
  • Experience tracking, analyzing, and communicating sprint metrics.
  • Proficiency with JIRA, Smartsheet, or similar work management tools.
  • Familiarity with web technologies and the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to keep meetings focused and productive.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts, build consensus, and influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to identify and remove blockers and determine when escalation is necessary.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to take ownership of responsibilities and independently drive activities to completion.
  • Responsive and dependable, with a strong sense of urgency in addressing team needs, stakeholder requests, and delivery issues.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to prepare and present sprint updates, delivery metrics, risks, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scrum certification, such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), PSM – AI Essentials, or SAFe Scrum Master.
  • Familiarity with Kanban and scaled Agile practices, such as Scrum of Scrums.
  • Familiarity with Evidence-Based Management (EBM) or other outcome-focused approaches to measuring team performance.
  • Experience using AI tools to support Agile teams, including meeting summaries, backlog refinement, or sprint analytics.
  • Experience supporting UAT and production support triage.
  • Experience working with mission-driven or nonprofit organizations.
