About us

Pickle is a talent partner for fast-growing businesses. We help ambitious founders and leadership teams hire exceptional people across operations, product, technology, customer success, commercial, finance, and executive leadership.

We specialise in identifying high-quality permanent and contractor talent that can make an immediate impact, supporting businesses through key growth stages with a thoughtful, consultative approach to hiring. Whether it's a critical leadership appointment or building out an entire function, we work as an extension of our clients' teams to find people who combine the right skills, mindset, and cultural fit.

We believe great hiring goes beyond matching CVs to job descriptions. It's about understanding how businesses operate, what success looks like, and connecting them with people who will help them grow for the long term.

About our client and the role

Location: Remote first
Contract: Employed, Full-time hours

The company

A profitable, growing UK consumer technology business operating in a high-trust financial category. The company runs a portfolio of consumer products with significant transaction volume across the UK and North America, and is building toward a next-generation platform that converts occasional, moment-driven users into habitual year-round customers. The business funds its own growth from a strong balance sheet rather than external burn, and is entering its most ambitious product phase.

Charity, Mosque & Community Partnerships · UK-based, Birmingham-leaning · Remote-first with some UK travel

The role

This is a hands-on new business sales role focused on identifying, developing and closing new charity, mosque and community partnerships.

You’ll be responsible for building your own pipeline, engaging prospective partners, understanding their needs, presenting the Shamaazi proposition and supporting opportunities through to onboarding and launch. You’ll work closely with the Head of Commercial & Partnerships on commercial recommendations and more complex opportunities.

Shamaazi builds and operates the technology behind MyTenNights, MyTenDays, MyFridays, MyFajr and GiveMatch, which together have facilitated hundreds of millions in donations across a global network of charities and donors.

The infrastructure is built. The opportunity now is to introduce more charities, mosques and community organisations to the platform and help them make the most of it.

You will report to the Head of Commercial & Partnerships and manage your own pipeline from prospecting through to close, with support from the wider commercial team where needed.

This is not an inbound-led role. You will build your own pipeline through proactive outbound, developing relationships and introductions, and face-to-face relationship building with charity, mosque and community leaders. Trust in this market is earned in person, so regular UK travel and attendance at relevant community and sector events are core parts of the job, not extras.

What you will own

New business generation

You’ll be responsible for generating new business opportunities and progressing them through the sales process. You’ll work towards agreed sales targets and develop a consistent pipeline of prospective charity, mosque and community partners.

Prospecting and network-led acquisition

Structured outbound across email, phone, LinkedIn, events and introductions, with a focus on building relationships and creating new opportunities. You’ll be expected to proactively identify prospective partners rather than relying solely on inbound leads.

Face-to-face relationship building

Regular time on the road across UK cities with significant Muslim and charity communities, meeting mosque committees, charity leadership and community organisations in person. You will represent Shamaazi at conferences, fundraising events and community gatherings, and turn those rooms into pipeline.

Opportunity ownership

You’ll take ownership of opportunities from initial outreach through discovery, proposal, follow-up and handover into onboarding. You’ll keep opportunities moving, make sure next steps are clear and keep the CRM up to date. You’ll have support from the Head of Commercial & Partnerships on more complex opportunities and commercial decisions.

Commercial recommendation and approval

You’ll learn and work within Shamaazi’s commercial and pricing framework. Where a deal requires specific commercial terms or approval, you’ll work with the Head of Commercial & Partnerships to put forward the relevant information and recommendation.

Pipeline and CRM discipline

Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in HubSpot, including opportunity stage, next steps and expected close dates. You’ll work with the Head of Commercial & Partnerships to keep the pipeline healthy and identify where additional activity is needed.

Ecosystem selling

Understand the wider Shamaazi ecosystem rather than selling a single product in isolation. Learn to identify what a partner is trying to achieve and position the products and campaigns that are most relevant to them.

Commercial judgement

Develop good commercial judgement: understand which prospects are a strong fit, qualify opportunities effectively and prioritise your time across the pipeline. You’ll learn from the Head of Commercial & Partnerships where we see the strongest opportunities in the market.

Stakeholder relationships

Build credibility and trust with trustees, charity leaders, imams, mosque committees and community leaders. Learn how different organisations make decisions and adapt your approach accordingly.

Handover into Customer Success

Close is the start, not the end. Hand over cleanly with the full context of the deal: what the partner is trying to achieve, what was promised, the campaign objectives and the expansion opportunities you identified during the sale.

Feedback loop into Product and Growth

You are the front line of the market. Surface recurring partner needs, objections, blockers and competitive signals in a structured way so Product and Growth can act on them.

What success looks like

  • Consistent progress towards agreed new-business targets.
  • A healthy, active pipeline of relevant prospects and opportunities.
  • Good progression and conversion of opportunities through the sales process.
  • A meaningful proportion of closed business self-sourced through outbound and your own network.
  • Strong quality of new partnerships and effective handover into Customer Success.
  • HubSpot that is accurate and up to date.
  • Product and Growth acting on useful market insight that came from you.

How performance is measured

Core focus: new business generated, pipeline development, conversion and the quality of partner relationships.

  • Number and value of partnerships taken live against target.
  • GTV generated by partnerships you sourced, through their first campaign cycle.
  • Value and quality of qualified pipeline against target.
  • Proportion of pipeline and live partnerships that is self-sourced.
  • CRM accuracy and consistency.
  • Quality of handover and post-launch partner performance.
  • Conversion rate by stage and average deal value.

Requirements

The person

You have some experience in sales, business development, partnerships or another customer-facing commercial role, and you’re excited by the opportunity to build your skills in a genuine new-business environment. You enjoy meeting people, opening doors and turning conversations into opportunities.

You are:

  • Self-generating: you’re comfortable proactively reaching out to potential partners and creating opportunities rather than waiting for leads.
  • Relationship-led: you build trust quickly and are comfortable speaking with people from different backgrounds and levels of seniority.
  • Commercially curious: you want to understand what makes an organisation a good fit and how Shamaazi can create value for it.
  • Structured: you keep track of conversations, follow-ups and next steps and take pride in keeping your CRM organised.
  • Consultative: you listen before selling and aim to understand the organisation’s needs rather than simply running through a product pitch.
  • Resilient: you understand that not every conversation becomes a deal and you keep going when opportunities stall or don’t work out.
  • High ownership: you take responsibility for your opportunities, follow through on commitments and ask for help when you need it.
  • Culturally fluent: you understand, or are motivated to learn, how charities, mosques and community-led organisations operate and what earns their trust.

Essential

  • Some experience in B2B sales, business development, partnerships, recruitment, fundraising or another target-driven, relationship-led role.
  • Comfort with proactive outreach and developing opportunities rather than relying entirely on inbound leads.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with different stakeholders.
  • Comfort building relationships face-to-face and travelling regularly across the UK.
  • Organised approach to managing prospects, follow-ups and CRM activity.
  • Right to work in the UK and based in the UK.

Highly desirable

  • Existing relationships across UK charities, mosques or Muslim community organisations.
  • Experience selling into mission-driven, faith-based or community-led organisations.
  • Understanding of Ramadan and seasonal fundraising dynamics and how they shape charity planning cycles.
  • Experience in SaaS, fintech, payments or charity technology.
  • Experience using a structured sales or qualification process.

Particularly exciting if you can evidence

  • An example of where you proactively identified and approached a new prospect and turned it into an opportunity or customer.
  • An example of building a relationship from an initial cold or warm introduction.
  • A relationship you built in person that turned into repeatable deal flow or referrals.
  • A time you exceeded a sales, fundraising, recruitment or other commercial target.

What this role is not

  • Not an inbound or lead-following role. You will be expected to proactively build pipeline.
  • Not an account management role. Retention and delivery sit with Customer Success. Your focus is new business.
  • Not a single-product sales job. You will learn to sell the wider Shamaazi ecosystem.
  • Not a desk-only role. Time in front of partners is an expectation.
  • Not a contracting or pricing role. Partner agreements, fee tiers and platform access are decided by the platform owner. You’ll work within the agreed commercial framework and escalate exceptions to the Head of Commercial & Partnerships.
  • Not a people-management role. You will have individual ownership and targets, but you will not be responsible for managing a team.

Location and travel

UK based and remote-first. Birmingham or the West Midlands is a strong advantage given the concentration of charity, mosque and community organisations in the region, but we are flexible on location for the right person.

Regular UK travel is a standing expectation of the role, including evening and occasional weekend events where community activity happens. Travel intensity increases around key fundraising periods, particularly in the run-up to and during Ramadan.

Reporting and working relationships

You will report to the Head of Commercial & Partnerships and work closely with Customer Success on handover and with Product and Growth on market feedback and campaign support.

This is a hands-on role with a high degree of autonomy. You’ll be given clear targets and expectations, while having access to support and coaching from the Head of Commercial & Partnerships as you build your experience.

Working environment and expectations

We are a remote-first team with regular meetups in London. We focus on trust, flexibility and high performance, with core hours for collaboration.

We are also a small, fast-moving team. Priorities can change quickly, information is not always complete and there will be periods where the pace and workload are demanding, particularly around peak campaign seasons. You will have significant autonomy, but that comes with accountability for outcomes.

You need to thrive on:

  • Ambiguity: making sensible decisions with incomplete information, getting moving and asking questions when you need more context.
  • Working under pressure: prioritising effectively and maintaining good judgement when several things are happening at once.
  • Change: adapting quickly when priorities shift.
  • Setbacks: responding constructively when deals stall or close out, learning from them and continuing to move forward.
  • Direct feedback: listening, challenging constructively and being willing to change your approach when the evidence supports it.
  • Accountability: making risks, blockers and questions visible early.
  • Ownership: following through on commitments and focusing on what you can do to improve the outcome.

We do not expect everything to go perfectly. We do expect you to remain calm, constructive and effective when it does not.

You won’t have every answer from day one, and we don’t expect you to. We do expect you to be proactive, willing to learn and comfortable asking for help when you need it.

That does not mean working unsustainably or treating exhaustion as a virtue. For us, durability means maintaining good judgement, ownership and constructive behaviour when the circumstances are not ideal.
