Who We Are

The Role

The Regional Development Manager (RDM) will cultivate relationships with school districts and instructional leaders in order to support curriculum adoptions and professional learning implementation. This role will utilize marketing-generated leads, and build a disciplined new business engine that consistently converts connections into qualified opportunities and closed business, furthering the impact of our HQIM.

The Regional Development Manager reports to the Regional/National Director and is a new-business sales role focused on proactive territory development, pipeline creation, and relationship-driven outreach to drive awareness, referrals, and new customer adoption. The RDM will initiate outreach to districts, converting outreach into qualified opportunities and closed business.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively build and manage a healthy pipeline of qualified new-business opportunities across an assigned territory through outbound calls, email, LinkedIn/social outreach, referrals, and networking with district instructional leaders and administrators.
  • Execute a minimum of 15 proactive outbound interactions (calls, emails, LinkedIn) per week to net-new district contacts.
  • Conduct a minimum of 10 live outbound phone conversations per week with prospective or existing district prospects.
  • Schedule and complete a minimum 5 discovery calls, prospect meetings, or presentations per week with instructional leaders or committees.
  • Prioritize the response to all marketing-generated leads to convert them into qualified sales opportunities and at a minimum respond with-in 4 business hours.
  • In partnership with our Enablement team, deliver compelling, tailored in-person and virtual presentations and product presentations to instructional leaders, curriculum committees, and district decision-makers.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key influencers — superintendents, curriculum directors, principals, and instructional coaches — to build a referral-driven pipeline.
  • Represent Open Up Resources at conferences, trade shows, and regional education events, fostering relationships.
  • Accurately and consistently maintain Salesforce records, including call logs, opportunity stages, forecast updates, and customer details.
  • Submit a bi-weekly written activity and progress report to leadership.
  • Partner with the leadership to align on territory priorities, messaging, and prospecting strategy.
  • Provide market feedback, competitive intelligence, and product input to inform territory planning and company strategy.
  • Meet or exceed assigned new-business revenue, pipeline, and activity targets.
  • Represent Open Up Resources with professionalism, energy, and deep commitment to educational equity and student success.

Core Competencies

  • Ethics and Integrity: Behave in a fair and ethical manner toward peers, partners, and customers; instill mutual trust and confidence; act with honesty and integrity.
  • Continuous Learning: Hone and improve the level of knowledge and skills through education and training.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Work with colleagues to build morale and team commitment to goals and objectives.
  • Diversity: Understand that each individual is unique and celebrates individual differences including race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, mental or physical disability, marital status, veteran status, education, training, position, level of authority, seniority, full-time or part-time status.
  • Solution Oriented: Able to take action in solving problems, using reason and a systematic approach.
  • Managing Change: Create an environment that embraces change, both internally and externally, and help others to accept new ideas.

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in K-12 education, curriculum sales, education-technology sales, or related business development — a proactive, prospecting track record of new-business generation.
  • Success in Math/ELA sales with demonstrated knowledge in one or both of these subject areas.
  • Demonstrated success in outbound prospecting, referral-based selling, and pipeline generation, in addition to managing inbound demand.
  • Ability to develop and nurture account relationships with district and school instructional leaders.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including comfort presenting to experienced, senior audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple territory priorities at once.
  • Command of technology applications, including presentation software and Salesforce.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, goal and activity-oriented environment while collaborating closely with leadership and broader team.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to support territory development and relationship-building.
