Wood Minerals and Metals Business currently has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Resource Geologist. Reporting to the Operations Director. The location of this position is flexible for the right candidate including Canada, USA, or South America, this position will have overall responsibility for generating and maintaining geological models, resource and reserve estimates, and will lead and author technical reports, mineral resource and reserve disclosures, economic studies, and public filings in accordance with NI 43-101, CIM Definition Standards, and SEC Regulation S-K 1300 requirements for various projects throughout North America and the world. - Direct execution of mineral resource estimation and support to mineral reserve estimates, as well as provide guidance and management to our resource geology and engineering teams
- Perform geological and mineral resource/mineral reserves due diligence assessments to maximize value for our clients
- Lead, author and act as a Qualified Person (QP) for technical reports, such as NI 43-101, S-K 1300, and JORC, including coordination of external consultant contributions to the report and knowledge and ability to manage certificates and consents, as required
- Develop technical disclosures supporting public company filings and ensure consistency between technical reports and public disclosures
- Ensure compliance of resource and reserve estimates with international professional standards and government regulations for public disclosures
- Ensure suitable quality of geological models and domaining of grade populations with development of modeling and domaining standards and work practices
- Perform variography and grade interpolation as well as verification and validation of resource models.
- Perform grade control and reconciliation studies. Conduct exploratory data analysis
- Train and mentor staff in mineral resource estimation methodology
- Assist in the identification and recruitment of high-quality staff in order to grow and expand the technical capabilities of the group
- Actively support business development activities and strategic client relationship management

Expected:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in geology, geostatistics, geological or mining engineering or mining-related field
- More than 15 years’ experience in resource development, operations and geology with a focus on mineral resource estimation
- More than 10 years’ experience with direct authorship of multiple NI 43-101 and S-K 1300 technical reports
- Professional Geologist (P.Geo) registration or eligibility to register as a Professional Geoscientist or Engineer in Canada and/or USA, Chile or Peru
- Industry recognition as an expert in geology and resource estimation
- Fluency in the operation of major modeling software packages; such as Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, MineSight, Gemcom or Vulcan
- Must be eligible to act as a Qualified Person under NI 43-101 and S-K 1300. A QP must possess relevant education, relevant experience, and be in good standing with an accepted professional association
- Knowledge of industry standards in mineral resource and mineral reserve estimation including CIM, JORC, CRIRSCO or SME guidelines and compliance with public disclosure regulations including Canada’s NI 43-101 and US SEC’s S-K 1300 with the ability to serve on mineral reserves as a Qualified Person
- Experience in multiple operating mines and/or multiple commodities is an asset
- Experience with a variety of project development studies (PEA, PFS, FS) is an asset
- Experience with M&A due diligence, IPO and financing and on international projects is an asset
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, for varied durations and at times to remote locations
- Fluent and effective spoken and written English. Spanish or Portuguese would be advantageous but not a requirement.
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada or USA , Chile or Peru without sponsorship from Wood is required
